Epcot new central spine concept art

Disney has revealed concept art for the new central spine redevelopment of Epcot - which will see major changes to the center of the park in what is currently Future World.

Future World as we know it will be gone, and will be replaced with three “neighborhoods” - World Nature, World Discovery and World Celebration.

At the center, Innoventions West will be completely removed, and in its place will be a new meet and greet building to replace Character Spot, a large multi-level festival center complete with rooftop bar and lounge, and a walk-through garden area with an elaborate water feature called 'Journey of Water Inspired by Moana.'

On the other side, the existing eastern buildings will remain, but with extensive remodeling, and will become home to a quick service restaurant, an expanded Mouse Gear, the relocated Starbucks and Club Cool, and a couple of smaller Food and Beverage offerings including the much-talked about Beer Garden.

As you can see from the artwork, the new central area to be much more landscape heavy with trees and gardens replacing much of the existing concrete. Winding pathways will replace the main central guest corridor.

Besides this lighting, how much construction is actually still going on in terms of the “Transformation”? I was there two weeks ago, and saw some walls by the Moana bathroom/utilidor stairs and the Imagination path flex space along with the CommuniCore area, but I don’t remember any walls other than that. When this opens, is that all the walls left?

Yes. They could have easily done a drop, using the triangle pattern for the grid vs. the standard squares/rectangles. It could be filled with some type of tile - with necessary ones removed based on each show's lighting/sound/rigging requirements. The sleek underside almost looks worse with this approach IMHO.

nope just how it appears from this image maybe only from the side from a box square building. The acne pimples 😐 yeah were a real period.

I think the big problem with this is sleek, shinny surface it is in front of which just makes all wiring stick out like a soar thumb. Compare it to American Gardens theater where it all sort of get swallowed by the dark space over the stage.

Those Diamond triangles work so well on Spaceship Earth but here just from this angle it looks like they are sticking on the building like an abomination of pimples, the diamonds look like mouths like they all would go "my my my" calling out like the seagulls in finding nemo.. scary and itching looking. 😂😬 In the Florida raging heat.

Where, outside Tommorowland, does Disney have mostly white/light colored buildings to avoid seeing bird droppings?

Having dark tiles and birds dropping something on it isn't the best look.

Not a fan of the rigging being out like that. I really wish this were an enclosed theater or even fully indoor. The Encanto show won’t be much fun when the real feel is 100°+…

If nothing isn’t stalled then they’re not using the stage which means we’re right back to dead space…

It’s designed to be a flexible lighting system to use lighting on a track and to easily add and remove lighting based on the performance. This does not imply that they will all be installed at all times.

Didn’t try, because they don’t care. The only unknown is when fans will realize this simple fact.

It looks terrible. They didn’t try to hide the cords.

While I get the need and the realities of lighting rigging, that really doesn't look very good. While I do like Celebration Gardens generally, Communicore Hall is feeling really budget cut the more I see. I hope there is something better on the interior.
