Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction - April 16 2024
Posted: Tuesday April 16, 2024 10:00am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Today, we have the latest update on the progress of Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Work is mostly complete on the mountain, with crews hand-finishing small areas that require touch-ups.

The majority of the visible construction activity is still taking place in the outdoor and indoor queue area.

New since our last update is the addition of the Main Entrance signage into the building from the queue area.

We are still waiting for a precise opening date, but Disney has previously said that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open this summer at Walt Disney World and later in 2024 at Disneyland. The current best estimates are still leaning toward the mid-June timeframe, with previews expected before then.

There is no evidence. It is not supported by any statement from the designers of the attraction. In fact, Charita essentially contradicted it. That people have pretended it is a thing for hundreds of pages is a tiresome waste of oxygen serving only to spread misinformation in the future. If you want to say that, in your opinion, what they have done to the facade minimizes the drop, that’s cool, but let’s not perpetuate a conspiracy theory that they’re trying to lure unsuspecting younger riders onto the attraction. I’ll leave it at that.

You can easily search the thread to see that that just isn’t true. Even today, there are multiple posts mentioning Splash Mountain. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but my understanding is that it’s OK to bring up TBA’s predecessor if it’s for the sake of a comparison or observation that bears on the current progress of the project. It’s easy to see the difference between a statement such as “The exterior looks much greener than it did when it was Splash Mountain” and one like “Splash Mountain was the best ride ever, and I don’t understand why they’re replacing it”.

The ride opens on the 28th of June. The Magic Kingdom After Hours event begins on the 27th but ends on the 28th. Shock the (Disney) world and have it open at midnight!!

Absolutely. I don't know why everyone is reacting as if you said something ridiculous. She's literally blocking the drop on the poster. They've put large trees that partially block the drop depending on where you're standing. They are definitely trying to downplay the drop.

Yes. Just don't mention, compare to, or acknowledge the prior attraction. What prior attraction? There was no prior attraction. This is a brand new build!

It's really, really easy not to get "censored" in this forum. Just sayin'.

I had previously supported this speculation with reference to the attraction's poster and comparison to previous on-ride photos from an unnamed attraction, but someone saw fit to censor and remove that part of the comment. So for evidence or data that supported this speculation, please refer to exact same information which remains uncensored in this thread.

They should've put that water rat in the ride.

Good Lord.

We won't know for sure for at least a month. It certainly fits with the speculation that they are trying to play down the drop.

From the preview announcement: The 7:00 AM virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to Magic Kingdom park for that day. The 1:00 PM virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to any theme park for that day. As a reminder, Passholders must enter the theme park where they have a reservation prior to visiting Magic Kingdom park. Or, on June 13, 14, 17, 18 or 20, they can enter Magic Kingdom park without a reservation after 2:00 PM. Passholders do not need to have entered a theme park when they request to join the virtual queue.

Thank you for the screen grab. I had wondered why the raccoon on the Co-Op sign looked so evil and I see its based upon the design from the film. Good catch.

I'm not convinced it is the official on-ride photo. It can't be!? It's terrible.

I very much agree with all of this. I particularly think it was the wrong choice to put the bear and rabbit on the ride photo as almost no-one will have any real connection to them and they are probably the most generic looking of the characters. On first glance, it is particularly strange they wouldn't have gone with a character like Luis that is at least from the film and is a type of animal associated with a bayou. I suspect, though, Luis, Tiana, and any other recognisable characters will be on whatever frames they aim to sell with the photos.
