Walt Disney World extends hours for Magic Kingdom and other parks in late April and early May 2024

Walt Disney World has announced adjustments to the operating hours at several theme parks, effective April 28 through May 11, 2024.

The changes include extended opening and closing times at Magic Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. EPCOT hours remain unchanged from the standard 9 am to 9 pm.

Operating hours for Walt Disney World theme parks are now available through June 22, 2024

At Magic Kingdom, the park's hours will extend by one hour in the evenings from April 28 to April 30 and again from May 1 to May 2, with the park closing at 10 pm instead of the planned 9 pm. The first weekend of May will see even longer hours, with the park opening at 8 am and closing at 11 pm on May 3 and 4. The extended hours continue sporadically throughout the following week, with closures at 10 pm on most days and at 11 pm on May 6, 10, and 11.

Disney's Animal Kingdom will open an hour earlier at 8 am and close up to an hour later at 7 pm on selected days starting April 28. The adjusted closing times continue through the first two weeks of May, with the park closing at 7 pm on May 3, 4, 10, and 11 and at 6 pm on other days.

Disney's Hollywood Studios will see its hours extended to 10 pm on May 2 and 3, an hour later than initially scheduled. On May 4, the park will open half an hour earlier at 8:30 am and close at the same extended time of 10 pm. The 10 pm closing time will also apply on May 10 and 11.

There's been a lot of 9 and 10:30pm Fantasmic! nights recently, which is a surprise for this time of year. Even later than when the holiday season rolls around in past years. So you realistically could stay in the park past 11pm. Guess they see a good return on these later park closings and late night F! showings.

Has there been any pattern of Disney not extending hours on Mondays and Wednesdays when there are extended hours at EPCOT and MK? I thought it was interesting to see MK open until 11 on Sunday before Memorial Day but then only 10 on Memorial Day, but maybe there is expectation enough deluxe guests will be at EPOCOT for extended hours? Similarly HS are extended on a Tuesday and Thursday around a Wednesday when MK has extended hours. It's as though it's an operational cost savings to not extend MK on Memorial Day and HS that Wednesday? So Disney double dips extending only one park while calling it a benefit?

Man, I hate these AK hours. Instead of opening an hour earlier, can't they stay open an hour later at least? Even if Safari is closed, still so much to do and see. It seems to be closing even earlier this year? I fear in December it will close at 5.

Animal Kingdom should never have a 6pm closing. That is my biggest gripe with that park.

Walt Disney World has extended park hours for the week of April 21, 2024. Of note, Disney's Hollywood Studios is scheduled to close at 10pm on April 25, 26 and 27. Reminder: EPCOT will have a delayed opening at 10am on Sunday, April 21, due to a runDisney race.
