Disneyland's Haunted Mansion will stick around for a bit longer this year as its conversion back into the Haunted Mansion is pushed back.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday was initially planned to run through January 8, 2023, but now be available through January 29, 2023.

The Haunted Mansion will close on January 30, 2023, to be converted back into the regular Haunted Mansion experience. The reopening date is not yet available.

sad, but true

I agree. This is a generic downgrade and totally blows apart all their Cheap Words pablum the WDI Comms interns and Parks Blog marketeers post about being great storytellers and creating immersive environments and blah blah blah. The new tile looks like a Home Depot display kitchen. And then... I looked at the photo of this new tile in its natural setting. Looking at who the audience now is for these parks, do these people even care? Do they even notice? They are just staring at their phones and driving to their next snack bar pickup on Mobile Order. Are we the stupid ones for caring about traditional details, while folks still show up for "Disney!" and the refillable mugs and souvenir popcorn buckets made in China? :(

FYI, I got nothing here in St. George this afternoon. And now the same radio guy said it was just a SoCal thing along the coast. I wanted to duck and cover!

See what I mean @Professortango1 ? The less modern WDI touches the better. Really worried about the Hitchhiking Ghosts scene at DL.

That is too bad about the tile work redo, the original was so much better and representative of the culture.

I agree, I am far more upset about this than any IP integration, or possible ride rethemes. Disney likes to talk about authenticity, and then does this? It's a disgrace, and hypocritical.

This is the first time I've been really, truly upset by a change and I can't tell if I'm being overdramatic. Zellige tile is an art form integral to Moroccan culture; to replace it with tile worthy of a bathroom in DHS is offensive.

I remember there being a sonic boom back in, what, 2009? I believe it was for the Endeavour's re-entry? Quite a while ago now, I'm forgetting the specifics, but I very much remember it happening.

Sonic Boom Alert! Listening to talk radio, and they just mentioned that the Southwest USA could hear a sonic boom in 10 minutes as SpaceX launches another rocket from Vandenburgh Space Force Base at 3:20pm Pacific time. Apparently the needed trajectory is such that it may cause a noticeable sonic boom to be heard from SoCal to Las Vegas to Phoenix. Will they hear it at Disneyland, I wonder? BOOM!

I took this while waiting for the fireworks show. They give a bunch of kids (and some adults) lightsabers and the droid on the ledge (right side of pic) gives a speech about the force and at the end has everyone yell "'Til the spire!" as they raise their sabers.....then the fireworks show starts. It was great hearing John William's music blasted throughout the area. Hot take....I honestly preferred watching the firework from there than on Main Street. Better music and you are much closer.

As a genetic Swede descended from a particularly stylish clan of ancient Vikings, who was raised by Swedish-American immigrants who certainly never let any bodily functions be noticeable at any time, this makes me happy. :)🇸🇪 And it makes a lot of sense. Farts and bodily functions in Scandinavia are best left to the Norwegians, the poor dears.🇳🇴

That is such a great point.

Just a reminder that Walt Disney’s cartoon shorts and early animated features were loaded with tons of butt-humor and, as one of the original animators put it, “thinly-disguised fart gags.” Nowadays, like nearly everything else in our culture, things are certainly more manners-out-the-window, especially with some (not all) Dreamworks and Illumination films. But one huge, wonderful exception for Dreamworks is “How To Train your Dragon,” which, in a rarity for the studio, contains not a single fart or bodily fluid gag (in a film about Vikings and Dragons!) I’m very, very happy that this is the Dreamworks franchise getting its own land in Epic Universe.

TP, this is DreamWorks we are talking about here…..so fart jokes should not be a surprise. It’s a given. 😉 And when you DO decide your dates for your future Orlando venture, let me know! I still owe you a real lobster roll! 😎 -
