Disney has shared more details on the new mural that is part of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, opening in late 2024 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Hailing from Louisiana, artist Malaika Favorite has produced all-new artwork that will decorate the walls as part of the queue of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Watch the video below to hear from Malaika.

Taking inspiration from the numerous murals and other works of art that decorate building exteriors throughout New Orleans, Princess Tiana's desire to adorn the location with art is in keeping with the spirit that artwork is to be enjoyed and accessed by everyone.

Continuing the storyline from "The Princess and the Frog," Malaika's mural for Tiana's Bayou Adventure features a collage of scenes displayed on two of the building's exterior walls as you enter the indoor queue. These scenes highlight Tiana's professional journey and the creation of Tiana's Foods. When Tiana was young, her father made her promise to "never, ever lose sight of what is really important," and the mural will reflect those elements: family, friends, food, music, art, and bringing folks together.

Carmen Smith, Senior Vice President, Creative Development - Product/Content & Inclusive Strategies said, "I am humbled by the level of research and detail Walt Disney Imagineering has paid to bringing the authenticity of New Orleans to Disney parks and resorts to immerse guests in this empowering tale. When you visit Tiana's Bayou Adventure, we want you to feel like you have truly stepped foot inside the next chapter of "The Princess and the Frog" in a way only Disney can bring to life."

With what we’ve seen lately I’d be happy if they don’t touch it until a full WDI housecleaning is complete.

For sure. It's still a log flume. It'll still be fun. And it's an attractive ride with some good music.

I for one think the attraction is fantastic. You can tell the plot was written by someone who was actively engaged in exhaustive research (while sampling a cornucopia of adult beverages) in New Orleans. We start by looking for a spice or something in the bayou, but forget about that eventually and turn our attention to finding animals who can play instruments. We find a few of the animals, uh shrink for some reason and find some more of the animals, then go splashy on the waterfall, and realize the spice was inside of us all along. The foregoing, combined with the inclusion of the animal musician animatronics we have all come to know and love, make it an instant classic. I eagerly await the opening of the meet and greet for the fan favorite trumpet beaver and horn playing bear, which meet and greet will no doubt comprise most of the land to be developed as part of the Beyond Big Thunder project.

Why do we need to go on a bayou adventure to look for musicians? Why couldn’t they just put up some help wanted posters throughout the bayou and call it day? “Need animal musicians - auditions on Saturday”.

Even then, here's one who disliked it:

Agree, and I think the “princess phase” in particular is something that skews towards younger children. Probably most common around age 2-7.

I found the Test Kitchen sign after the lift hill to be highly immersive. Hey look the employee owned co-op has a break room too!
