Disney's Hollywood Studios debuted an all new set of background music today, part of the park's redevelopment for the future.

  • At the Main Entrance you can hear Big Band arrangements of Disney tunes.
  • Along Hollywood Boulevard there are Big Band instrumental arrangements of popular songs from the 30’s and 40’s.
  • Sunset Boulevard features vocal tracks from similar Big Band hits played on Hollywood Boulevard.
  • At Echo Lake you will continue to hear Big Band sounds, pushing towards the 50’s and 60’s with bright, brassy horns and lush string arrangements.
  • Grand Avenue plays music inspired by present-day Downtown Los Angeles, the music on the street includes retro-contemporary west coast funk sound defined by a strong bassline, electric guitars, horns and synthesizers.
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster courtyard plays live versions of classic rock songs, including Aerosmith.

Here is a brief listen to some of the new tracks playing throughout the park.

As a 43 year old I’ll take your compliment about being young!:)

Ah... to be young again... ;) Anyone of certain age could have told you the answer without thinking. Here is the more famous rendition by Judy Garland in The Harvey Girls. The first 2:25 minutes is all one shot. Then a few quick cuts and the finale is one shot. Judy was shown the blocking for this once, and did it two takes. Yes, that's Ray Bolger (the scarecrow). Missing is a 19 year old Angela Lansbury playing a prostitute.

So I’m bumping this thread because we just got back to the YC after spending the evening at DHS and I noticed the new background music which I really enjoyed (Toy Story Land was great at night too!). I heard a song on Sunset Blvd and am trying to figure out the name. In the lyrics was something about the Santa Fe (railroad I’m assuming) and it sounded like it was from the 40s. Any help is much appreciated! Found it!

Does anyone know if “Sleepy Lagoon” still plays on Sunset? I have great memories of walking down the street at night with that song playing. Go to 20:20 for the song

That’s why this is the “Hollywood that never was and always will be.”

Agreed! Except minus the pint and add chocolate gelato from Italy.

Spaceballs: The Schwartz Awakens...it writes itself!

Great. It's been way too long since I've seen it and now you've reminded me to watch it again. Looking back on it, being raised on Mel Brooks movies probably wouldn't be recommended. You know, watching Blazing Saddles at the age of 10 and all. We need one more classic Mel Brooks movie before he signs out for good. Pure slap stick, witty play on words, complete off the rails, politically questionable work. Only he could make it work.

Riding the bus yesterday from Pop I heard the musical score from Mel Brooks The Producers and they actually play Springtime for Hitler.....:jawdrop:

Awesome!! Have a fun time!

The pint is certainly optional.. I'm going back in April for the first time in a while and this is one of the things I'm really looking forward to.

mouse_luvFeb 02, 2018

This exactly, minus the pint LOL!

One of my happy places is dusk in World Showcase with the torches lit, the pre-illuminations music playing, and a pint from rose and crown in my hand.
