EPCOT's retired Harmonious sees lagoon dock removal as part of plans for new spectacular

Harmonious barge dock demolition

Crews are staging a major effort in World Showcase Lagoon to remove the main infrastructure that provided docking and power for the massive Harmonious show platforms.

The demolition crew is using the recently staged Poseidon barges to facilitate the removal effort.

Crews are cutting the pilings supporting the docks and using a barge-mounted crane to lift them out of the water.

The work is being done with an eye toward the future, with EPCOT's new show expected to launch later this year.

Disney has revealed very little about the new nighttime spectacular. Still, WDWMAGIC sources suggest that the show will be far less complex than Harmonious and will be capable of being removed from the lagoon after each show in a similar way to Reflections of Earth.

Removing the docks indicates that there will be all new mooring points for the fireworks barges, and very little of the existing support infrastructure will be used going forward.

Well I'm 3 for 3 for seeing this show and it making me teary-eyed. I guess I'm a fan. I feel bad for badmouthing it when it debuted and I hadn't seen it yet, but Harmonious really left a bad taste in my mouth.

We can all agree that the best finale music in Epcot history was “A Whole New World,” obviously.

Well, to be specific the original ones made for the show although One Little Spark is great.

One Little Spark is better.

Can we all agree that "One Heartbeat" is the better post show song?

You don't get to see the fountains much, but fireworks and lights are visible. Music is piped in too.

I don't think they pipe in the music around the Epcot resorts (although they should) but you can also look up the soundtrack on YouTube and try to sync it up. this video I edited together is perfectly in sync with the actual show you just have to start it about a minute before the show actually starts because it has the last preshow song that transitions into the show.

Does that have a decent view?

I think it does. Good thinking! I was limiting my thinking to the Crescent Lake area.

Doesn't the restaurant on top of riviera pipe it in?

Brian1 day ago

I don't think so. IIRC there's no speakers on the bridge. But the music is sufficiently loud from the park that you should be able to hear it. EPCOT fireworks aren't meant to be viewed from outside the park, unlike Magic Kingdom's.

Ohh, ok. I was hoping for a restaurant I could eat at since we get in pretty late anyways. Do they at least pipe in the music on the bridge?

You can't really see the fireworks from inside the buildings. Your best bet if you don't want to enter the park is the bridge between the Boardwalk and Beach Club leading out towards the International Gateway, pictured here:
