It's been on the cards for several years and now the Splash Mountain logs have been equipped with lap bar restraints. It is thought that Disney were forced into installing lap bars due to guests attempting to exit the ride mid-way along the track, causing a dangerous situation for themselves and for other guests.
As you can see from the photos below, the logs are now cycling the track with lap bars in place, along with water dummies for simulating guests. Splash Mountain is scheduled to reopen on February 1 2011.
