UPDATE June 29 2015 4pm: Disney has confirmed to local news outlets that the last day of operation for The Magic of Disney Animation will be July 12 2015.

Originally posted June 29 2014 1:25pm.

The official My Disney Experience app is now listing the final day of operation for the character meet and greets at The Magic of Disney Animation as July 18 2015.

It is widely expected that The Magic of Disney Animation attraction will be closing imminently as part of the massive makeover project being planned for Disney's Hollywood Studios.

There is no word yet on when the rest of the attraction will be closing, which includes the Animation Academy and retail space.

One Man's Dream is also expected to be closing around that time.

Disney has not yet formally announced the closures.

I still hope we can get a proper satellite location for the Disney Family Museum....and build it to include a hanger for Walt's plane.

Was there today and sad to see it roped off with a sign saying this attraction is permanently closed:(

I hope they do something special before the park closes similar to the last rider at Snow White's Scary Adventures before getting demolished for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

What's nuts to me is we still don't really know what's taking animations place. Either way yesterday I bid both it and one man's dream farewell.

when I went yesterday the line for the class was to the beginning of the animation gallery shop.

I was thinking the Journey Into Imagination pavilion could take on the Disney displays and keep in theme with the intention, but even though JII needs attention, it should be far more interactive than just display cases. The innovations area would be perfect for all the models perhaps this has been in the plans for innovations west?

I wonder how busy the "Animation Academy" has been today and yesterday. I'm waiting for reports from visitors about this.

These kind of spots could fit almost any non princess character I think.

Too bad they aren't using the old M&G area across from Sci-fi dine in that was used when Mike & Sully were there for a while..It would have been a nice spot for Hiro & Baymax if they weren't ending M&G's for them...

The "How To Draw" sessions for today and tomorrow is going to be very busy.

We did the same thing this morning. When we got in line for Animation Academy, it was an hour/2 show wait and quickly jumped to an hour and a half after that. They kept making announcements that the line was just going to get longer as the day went on. I felt so bad for the CMs; most of them were putting on a happy face while you could tell they were quite upset. I've never been a fan of the current state of the building, but it's still very sad to see it close.

Stopped over today: the crowd for "Mushu" was the largest we've seen in years, and the line for the "do it yourself" drawing was back into the store. Guess people were getting in a final goodbye. (Which is why we did Mushu.)
