Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction - April 16 2024
Posted: Tuesday April 16, 2024 10:00am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Today, we have the latest update on the progress of Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Work is mostly complete on the mountain, with crews hand-finishing small areas that require touch-ups.

The majority of the visible construction activity is still taking place in the outdoor and indoor queue area.

New since our last update is the addition of the Main Entrance signage into the building from the queue area.

We are still waiting for a precise opening date, but Disney has previously said that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open this summer at Walt Disney World and later in 2024 at Disneyland. The current best estimates are still leaning toward the mid-June timeframe, with previews expected before then.

The more I listen to the instrumentals in this song, the more excited I become. I just heard the bang of a cymbal which is presumably Ralphie on the drums. I think this one is going to deliver. Edit: I think I just heard Tiana and Naveen singing, as well. The instrumentals are stronger than the lyrics, so it's *very* hard to tell, but I'm truly loving what I'm hearing, even from over 100 feet away.

You guys are going to have to take my word for this one because it's impossible to get audio of, but PJ's song is playing in the finale again. It sounds very quick-paced and upbeat, perfect for a party scene. I hear a tambourine and trumpet playing, but can't hear any lyrics from the bridge out front. So close, yet so far.

I don’t understand the bolded. And I’m not sure we can really call this a princess ride when the only royal reference we know of is the tiara. Nothing else that’s been revealed about the ride suggests an overly young or “girly” experience, or one more aimed at children than Splash was.

Thorns or no thorns that is an issue - having a princess ride as a thrill ride isn’t ideal. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

OK, but that’s a separate issue from the claim that kids are being duped into going on a thrill ride they may not be able to take. Sure, we don’t know whether the narrative will work well, but we do know that potentially frightened individuals will have all the visual information they need to make an informed choice about the scariness of the drop.

It was cartoony - as were the vultures on the lift hill - but it was cartoon scary which matched the story and the rest of the attraction. Can’t fully judge until I’ve ridden it but there is a lack of story here I think. We just falling out of the salt mine and into the swamp?

Thanks for the clarification.

I really don’t think the old exterior looked as scary as some here maintain. The briar patch was distinctly cartoony and not, in my view, menacing. The most frightening thing was the drop itself, which still remains visible.

Send them to Cake Bake Shop!

Although I’d prefer this banner wasn’t there either, personally I asked why the banner before the finale is outside. Not this one.

LADDER ARMY SPOTTED.

I wish they didn't cut the thorns/branches out from the blue sky art. Would've given something interesting to look at as riders vanish behind it. Maybe, heaven forbid, even add a sense of "Oh no we're going somewhere scary!" But I suppose we can't have the kiddos getting scared.

And they covered the side facing the drop. Now everyone can stop worrying 😝
