Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park at Walt Disney World is confirmed to to reopen January 2 2022.
Blizzard Beach, the only water park currently operating at Disney World, was expected to have its final day of operation on December 25 2021 before closing for its annual refurbishment. This has now been pushed back to January 1 2022 to give Disney an operational water park prior to the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon.
In addition to the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon for guests, it will also restart Surf Programs, including the Learn to Surf and Private Surf Bookings. Bookings are available now.
There is also a new Frozen Dessert Bar menu at Snack Shack. In addition to two Moana-inspired DOLE Whip character cones, you can build your own tropical flavor combination with a choice of mango, lime, raspberry or pineapple DOLE Whip. Adults can complement their custom DOLE Whip creation by mixing in tequila, coconut rum or dark rum. The Snack Shack at Typhoon Tilly’s will also serve the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, a new signature cocktail balancing spicy habanero, sweet mango and tangy lime flavors.
Disney and originally planned to reopen Typhoon Lagoon in late December, but delays to the refurbishment have pushed that slightly back.
Based on previous year's refurbishments, Blizzard Beach will reopen in the spring, with Disney World then likely to operate both water parks for the first time since reopening from the COVID-19 shutdown.
Both of Walt Disney World's water parks closed along with the rest of Walt Disney World in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and have remained closed despite the main four theme parks reopening. Blizzard Beach initially reopened on March 7 2021.
