EPCOT opened its latest new addition at the Italy pavilion earlier today and we were invited to a preview of some of the food and drinks that are on offer at Gelateria Toscana.
Operated by Patina Restaurant Group, you can expect the usual high standards that we have seen at the other restaurants in the Italy pavilion, and most recently at Disney Springs with Maria & Enzo's, Pizza Ponte and Morimoto Asia. We are very pleased to report that Gelateria Toscana does not disappoint!
The menu is surprisingly large and includes of course gelato in numerous flavors by the cup or cone, sorbets, floats, sundaes, smoothies, beer & wine, coffee, smoothies and frozen alcoholic drinks.
Gelateria Toscana is a walkup window, with separate ordering and pickup windows, and a small queue space. It is very well positioned along the promenade, and is sure to become a very popular place at firework time when those nighttime shows return to EPCOT later this year.
Tables are available across the promenade near to the water, directly opposite Gelateria Toscana on the western side (right side) of the Italy pavilion.
So onto the gelato! The Coppa Del Nonno was an immediate favorite - Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream and Amaretto Cookies. Creamy, lots of flavor and topped in a generous amount of whipped cream.
Zeppole should be high on your list to try - a perfectly fried donut ball - great to share along with a specialty drink.
The frozen white sangria is the perfect drink for a hot Florida day, and it is topped off with prosecco for good measure. They also have a frozen red sangria made with a cabernet.
Pricing is about on par with what you'll find at other EPCOT locations, with gelato starting at $7.95 for a 2 scoop cup. In our opinion the best value comes from the sundaes that are priced at $11.75, and large enough to split.
When you are looking for something refreshing, either gelato or a frozen alcoholic drink, Gelateria Toscana should be high on your list to try on your next trip.
Operating hours are currently 12:30pm to park close daily. With the opening of Gelateria Toscana the old gelato cart at the pavilion will be closed.
