Disney's Coronado Springs Resort yesterday began a 1 month trial of a new buffet menu for breakfast and lunch, operating from December 4 2011 to January 4 2012. Served from 7am to 11am, breakfast costs $14.99 for an adult, and $8.99 for a child. The lunch buffet begins at 11:30am and runs until 2pm, costing $16.99 for an adult, and $9.99 for a child. Dinner remains a la carte.
For those of you who are familiar with the Pepper Market, not that much has changed. The menu is largely the same as before, and still uses the same food stations. Slightly unusual for a buffet, is that with the exception of the salad station, none of the food is self-serve. Cast Members at each station plate the food for you, just as they did at the Pepper Market before this buffet trial. Menu options include sandwiches and salads, pizza and pasta, carved roast meats, tacos and burritos, kids section, and a bakery offering ice cream and desserts. Soft drinks, juice and coffee are included in the price, along with refills. The automatic gratuity has been removed, and the servers now also bring the bill to your table and handle the payment.
Our sampling of the food rated it largely the same as the a la Carte offering, with the food being in line with what you would expect from a food court at this price point. If you liked the food here before, the switch to the buffet will not change that. Portions sizes remain large, in many ways they are too large for a buffet offering. This is not a place where you can get bite size samples from all the stations, as the portions dished out by the Cast Members are really full size entrees on their own. (See photos below for a look at some of the food)
If you are feeling hungry, and think you can handle multiple entrees, this offering is perfect for you and offers good value for money.
