Orlando's best food trucks took to Downtown Disney West Side on Saturday night for the very first 'Trucks on the Town' event.

Taking place from 5pm to 10pm, the event looked to have been a great success, with lines reaching about 20 deep at most trucks for a good period of the event.

Joining the five Disney food trucks was the TheDailyCity.com Food Truck Bazaar, which includes El Cactus Azul, La Empanada, Magic 4 ur Plate, Mayan Grill, Philly's Best Cheesesteak, TJ's Seafood Shack, and Yum Yum Cupcakes.

Later this year as part of the Disney Springs expansion, a new permanent Food Truck Park will open on the West Side, complete with an elevated structure that will provide shade and seating areas.

'Trucks on the Town' brought in a great variety of food in a way that only food trucks can deliver, and it would be great to see these trucks rotate with the regular Disney operated trucks once the new park opens. Our favorites from the weekend were the empanada's from 'Le Empanada', the Mayan chicken dish from Mayan Grill, and the incredible gourmet cupcakes from Yum Yum Cupcakes.

I liked the event! It actually surprised me how busy it was, especially considering the heat outside. Still, I enjoyed everything I tried: a grilled fish taco from TJ's Seafood Shack, a vegan peach cupcake from Yum Yum, and the char-grilled tandoori shrimp from Namaste Cafe. One thing that did upset me was the menu update at Superstar Catering (the DHS-inspired truck). It used to have some interesting meatball dishes, but now the menu consists of 2 boring subs and a margherita flatbread. Not nearly as interesting IMO, but it probably means the other items weren't selling too well.

Ive had the Corndog is was so delicious. And remember the Disney Food Trucks take the dining plan and gives the cast discount. Not sure of other discount programs.

I actually like the sound of this. At least where I live and in cities I've visited (NY, Philly, San Francisco, etc.), food trucks are home to interesting, quality options at reasonable prices. Assuming most of these trucks are decent (which seems to be the case, based on online reviews), this'll be a fun way to sample some really good ones. Even some of the Disney trucks have impressed me (namely Namaste Cafe and Superstar Catering), but it can be hard to find where/when they're actually serving. I'll be in Orlando at the time, so I look forward to attending. It'll be a nice change of pace from the usual offerings in DTD.

Look, I like Disney food as much as the next cat on this forum, but if we're going to start referring to a bunch of roach coaches at the same place and the same time an "event," then I fear we may no longer be unable to discern what actually constitutes an "event."
