With the refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad now underway, the Magic Kingdom has updated its evening Extra Magic Hours attraction line-up.

Taking the place of Big Thunder Mountain, through to its reopening on November 19 2016, will be Splash Mountain.

Extra Magic Hours are available to Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests, and on specific days allow access to select attractions 1 hour before park open, and 2 hours after regular park closing.

Are they forcing people to ride??? Tying them up, bundling them onto the logs???

It will be taken off once BTM is back up.

It's because of maintenance that it's not open for EMH usually. It takes a lot to keep it going. Typical day is 51 boats running continuously. If they have to drain the flume (usually down every other night), 1 hr down and another 1 hr back up.

Last trip my younger cousins couldn't understand why splash and other rides weren't open under emh. Nice to see it added even if it's just temporary.

That's probably the most likely scenario. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken off the list once BTMR goes back up.

MagicHappens1971Aug 30, 2016

I'd assume since BTM is down and they needed another mountain to be open to fill the gap for EMH

This.

Technically almost all of the attractions except for Splash were open for EMH. I asked a cast member why and they said it was because Splash needed to close early each night for brief maintenance check ups because it was a flume ride. I don't know why they changed their mind

I thought it was always open during EMH...silly me! I've always gone on it late at night when I'm at Disney and we often are the only people on it!

It's Florida, they will be fine! Splash is beautiful at night! Just hope it's still well maintained.

About time they added it. Used to frustrate me that it was never open during EMH. They would always have a cast member standing near the queue entrance telling people it was closed. As one of the major attractions in MK, it should always be open during EMH.

YAY! People can be very cold at 12:AM

Thumper 32Aug 15, 2016

Probably since Big Thunder is currently down, I would guess.

CaptainAmericaAug 15, 2016

No info, but I'd expect it to float on and off the list seasonally.
