The new Disney Vacation Club property to be built on Bay Lake between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort that was announced last month now has a name -"Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge."

The deluxe resort, which will be themed to complement its natural surroundings, will include more than 900 hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas spread across a variety of unique accommodation types.

“Walt Disney World is in the midst of our most significant expansion in the last two decades and the combined 1,700 new hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas we are building at four different resorts will create thousands of new construction and permanent jobs and will drive economic opportunity and incremental revenue for Central Florida,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort. “We continue to add new attractions, new lands — and these beautiful accommodations will be right in the heart of all that magic.”

“This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible,” said Terri Schultz, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “It will give our members and guests yet another opportunity to stay in close proximity to all the newest attractions and experiences in our theme parks, and with the flexibility, value and world-class service families expect from Disney.”

Bob is a liar and Disney loves to build DVCs

MagicHappens197113 days ago

We all know what Bob actually meant by added capacity and he did not mean resorts. I get that Disney's track record the past few years is not great, but it is abundantly clear that they do intend to truly increase capacity at their parks in the coming years. With that being said, they can still build another DVC like Reflections at the same time. I'm not so sure of the geography of that corner of MK, but I feel if they could build a new resort that could have a park entrance to the BBTM expansion, that would be ideal, as well as an additional entrance/exit to the park.

Actually no, way less than 10 for Reflections. Three, four maybe? Polyday Inn on the other hand ....

Thanks for the advice. You call it negativity, I call it reality. Am I happy about it? No. Reality sucks. Escaping reality is why folks used to go to WDW.

I am actually going to agree. Gut tells me the DVC cabins won't fly well. Also, they are adding/have added additional DVC capability in each resort in MK area, so why would this be different?

Did you see the news yesterday? Today might not the day to double-down on all the negativity. Give it a rest man, it will feel good.

I guarantee this project will start up again - 1. Its a DVC 2. Disney can say they "added capacity" by building this.

Define “dead”. 😉 It seems that it might return in some form as an addition to the “Cabins at FW DVC resort”. At some time. Although personally I don’t think it will be a stand-alone DVC resort.

So do we think this project may not be dead after all?

Bob needs that sweet, sweet DVC money to keep rolling in. And this (once?) dead project would have fit with their repeated claims of “expanded capacity” over the next 10 years.
