Emporium Refurbishment - May 5, 2025
Posted: Monday May 5, 2025 11:15am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Refurbishment work at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Emporium has now moved to the opposite end of the store, with the section closest to Town Square currently behind construction walls.

The entrance nearest the Harmony Barber Shop is now closed off, and the registers located in that portion of the Emporium are also behind walls and unavailable to guests. This marks the final phase of the ongoing store-wide update, which has been progressing section by section to replace flooring and refresh store fixtures.

Guests can still access the rest of the Emporium from its other entrances along Main Street U.S.A., and the majority of the retail space remains open. As with earlier closures, merchandise from the impacted area has been relocated to open sections of the store.

No timeline has been shared for completion of this final phase, but construction is expected to wrap up in the coming weeks.

Referb/Rephineas, does this provide a sufficient hint ?

Saw this mostly finished yesterday. It doesn’t look nearly as bad in person. Some fake hardwood floors would make it look a lot better. Home goods is despicable.

DL Emporium below. Shh. Don't tell WDW management. They might communicate to DL management and eliminate the old timey feel.

    Huh?

Maybe once its Rephineas is complete.

This is probably off topic but when is the Train Station's Referb supposed to be completed?

This is a perfect example of today’s WDW. Very, very sad. And it’s only going to get worse.

You misspelled, "Authentic, weathered, time-period-accurate waste receptacle". ;)

Freshly redecorated retail space marred by a clearly used, abused and unrepainted trash can right there in the foreground...

Registers and an exit door near the front of the Emporium (closest to the park entrance) are now behind walls:

Writers Stop, def the best. Its sad how the majority of shops in that park are gone, they have consolidated everything into just a few places left and eradicated anything with charm like writers stop. :banghead:

I miss the bookstore that used to be in MGM. Disney owns a pretty good sized publisher - the lack of bookstores on property strikes me as odd.

To be fair, the last few times I was in there, it felt mostly full of inexpensive trinkets and stuffed animals. Long gone are the days of movies, books, office items, kitchen accessories, et al. Basically anything of interest to anyone over the age of 8.

Comparing the previous aesthetic to what is there now...
