The popular character dining location at Disney's Animal Kingdom will make a return to buffet style dining in the fall.
Character dining makes a return at Tusker House later in June.
Tusker House is first and foremost a character dining experience, and in this regard it delivers. Mickey, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all at the restaurant, and travel around the restaurant to meet your party at the table. For a typical family, they will see all four characters at least once, and more than likely twice. The food is buffet style, and can be considered a watered down version of Boma. The food isn't as adventurous, or as well prepared. The care and attention to the food that make Boma the best buffet on property is just not there at Tusker House. You will frequently find food being slow to be replaced on the buffet at Tusker. Having said that, what is there is on par with other in-park buffets, such as Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom. All of the bases are covered, and there should be something for everyone to enjoy. My favorites were the Salmon and Strip Loin, along with pretty much all the desserts. As you would expect from a character location, there are a lot of young children running around, and there is celebration every 30 minutes or so which adds to the already high noise level in the restaurant. There are two seating areas, one in the main dining room, and one in a small room to the side, called the School Room. The small room is extremely noisy and echoey, and not very attractive in comparison to the main dining room. I would avoid being seated in that location. Dining at Tusker House isn't cheap, with adults costing around $45 each including tip. A family of four can expect to pay nearly $200 for a 2 hour experience. To sum up, Tusker House isn't somewhere I would go just for the food - for that, go to Boma. I would go back for the combined food and character experience with young ones in the party, and it is the best table service option at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
We loved our breakfast at Tusker House. Compared with the other character dining experiences we've had, this one stands out. Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Goofy all visited our table dressed in their safari gear and didn't rush off. We got our picture with Donald while we waited a few minutes for our table. The food was fantastic. The buffet offered traditional breakfast fare along with some more exotic fruits and pastries and a few different savory dishes. The corned beef hash was great. Our son loved this place, and the characters really made his day.
One of the best breakfasts we have had. Food excellent and a wide variety. Service and interaction with the characters good
This is a must for the wife and I. We have been booking Tusker house on every one of our trips since our honeymoon and we always book it for breakfast. It's just incredible. Love the food. Love the atmosphere. I will say the wait staff isn't as good as it used to be but it still a great place to start your day off eating at.
Tusker House is one of Animal Kingdom's two table service restaurants located inside the park. It offers a character breakfast and lunch, and a non-character dinner buffet, featuring African inspired foods.
