The American Film Institute Showcase at Disney's Hollywood permanently closed on Sunday August 17 2014, bringing to an end another of the original Studios exhibits.
The AFI Showcase exhibit was part of the Studio Backlot Tour, with it being the final stop and exit of the attraction. Over the years, the exhibit was regularly updated to include new props, set pieces, costumes and AFI award recipient information. Although in recent years the pace of the updates was reduced, the final exhibit to be displayed paid homage to AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies.
Also now permanently closed is The Showcase Shop, which sold movie memorabilia and collectibles, and more recently took the stock from the now closed Sid Cahuenga's One of A Kind.
Visit the AFI Showcase gallery for photos from the last day of operation for a look at the exhibit, and The Showcase Shop.
