Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom. The project involves installing new projectors, with longtime Disney partner Maddox Electric handling the work.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is a classic interactive dark ride located in Tomorrowland. Guests board ride vehicles equipped with laser blasters and compete to score points by shooting at targets inspired by Buzz Lightyear’s intergalactic battles against the villainous Emperor Zurg. The ride’s storyline casts guests as Junior Space Rangers on a mission to help Buzz defeat Zurg and save the galaxy. A scoreboard on each ride vehicle adds a competitive element, encouraging repeat rides to improve scores. The ride includes physical set pieces and a room full of projected images.

It’s not yet clear if the ride will need to close during the work or if it will be done during overnight maintenance.

Taking all bets, despite one of them being abandoned, what's in a worst state? SGE or Buzz?

Can we get the Disneyland guns while they're at it?

I'm convinced they saw how much money Disney Quest saved by never fixing the broken games that they decided to use the same maintenance routine for Buzz Lightyear.

Doesn’t breathing in mold cause a number of health issues? If it’s as bad as people are saying then it’s a serious danger to guests and cast members. You’d think their lawyers would be all over that

Space Mountain is just as bad with the work lights on. The entire land needs a thorough rehab.

Because money.

How is this not closed? Represented in Hollywood Studios already, it’s a dinosaur pre-technology, doesn’t make sense in Tomorrowland. Close and replace.

This needs an extensive refurbishment. Should probably be burned first to remove the mold, bacteria, and viral particles.

The last two times I went in (around a month apart) the animatronic in the queue was completely covered. So, sounds like a great time to upgrade him to me!
