In a new press release today, Disney has provided a few more details on what we can expect from the Fantasmic! relaunch at Walt Disney World.

Disney says, "The iconic “Fantasmic!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will make its much-anticipated return later in 2022 with a new show sequence featuring Disney characters – Mulan, Elsa, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Moana – in heroic moments, as well as new technical enhancements. Guests won’t want to miss this spectacle set on a canvas of water where the forces of good and evil battle it out in Mickey’s dream. The extravagant, open-air nighttime musical boasts more than 50 live performers, massive sets, stunning effects, rousing music and dazzling pyrotechnics."

The new scene will replace the existing Pocahontas segment.

Work has been underway on refurbishing almost all areas of the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, which includes new lighting system, new fountains, and a rebuild of Steamboat Mickey.

Disney has stopped short of offering an opening date, but our latest information suggests that we will see Fantasmic! this summer, possibly in July 2022.

Malificent almost lost a leg today

Hot take - no day parade should last longer than 5 years, before either major updates are made (rotate in new IPs...?), or a full replacement is ready to go. This parade opened almost 11 years ago...

    Rumored DHS parade?

    jrhwdw1 day ago

That DHS Rumor sure has gone silent.....

Yes, but Cars is an expansion of Frontier (Front Tire) Land. Villains is its own land entirely. That'll be the far more hyped up announcement for WDW and the one they want to build a parade around. If I remember correctly, @wdwmagic mentioned it'd been put on the back burner and may be dead.

I wonder what impacts would the rumored DHS parade have on a FoF replacement if it's still happening.

    Villians and Cars are coming.....

While FoF does need to be laid to rest, I don't foresee it happening until Villain's Land opens. Just like they opened FoF with New Fantasyland, they'll want to have a new parade alongside the opening of their newest land again.

There’s far more of the regular outfits available. If the regular outfits get soaked and need a real deep clean it won’t matter. If the parade outfits need a deep clean it could have a knock on effect on the following days.

Why do they use the regular outfits when it might rain? Does it help somehow?

When rain is planned they remove the Monstro unit and switch the Mickey & Minnie FoF outfits to regular ones. The balloon float however still has dents in it and they seem to be getting worse. Monstro & the opening unit are also still squeaking ever since they had disapeared for unplanned maintenence a 1-2 years ago, I'm guessing since they are both tokyo floats they were unable to get the original geniune parts.

I agree, I know many don't agree but the cuts and hodge podge mishmash are pretty bad now, it needs to go. Its been well over a decade already. These things keep limping along yet they keep replacing things that don't need replacing and then the things that do get left for decades.

Just saw a clip from the parade on Valentine’s Day. Oof, MK needs a new parade asap. No finale float, Mickey and Minnie in the balloon in their regular every day outfits… the rest of the characters following behind in all their regular outfits… Of course all the dancer cuts still remain. Put it out of its misery.
