Visible progress is now underway at the theater set to host The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as Disney prepares the space for the show’s debut on May 27, 2025.
This week, the outdoor queue area—previously used as a guest seating space since the closure of Voyage of the Little Mermaid—has been cleared of benches, rope poles, and other remnants of the old setup. A row of rolling planters now blocks access to the theater entrance.
The cleared space appears ready for surface cleaning and reconfiguration ahead of the installation of a queue for the upcoming show.
While work has clearly begun on the queue and exit areas, the new marquee signage has not yet been installed, and construction walls remain in place around the theater’s exit path. A permit filed earlier this year indicated that Walt Disney Imagineering has contracted Design Communications Ltd. to create new exterior signage for the attraction.
The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure is set to be a fully reimagined stage show featuring new set pieces, modern effects, and updated versions of classic songs like Part of Your World and Poor Unfortunate Souls. It replaces Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which closed in 2020 and never reopened following the pandemic shutdown.
With less than two months until opening, preparations around the theater are expected to pickup pace in the weeks ahead.
