Walt Disney World Railroad Shuttle Mode 2025
Posted: Monday July 7, 2025 10:55am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

As the Walt Disney World Railroad begins to operate on its modified shuttle route due to ongoing construction in Frontierland, guests riding from Main Street, U.S.A. to Storybook Circus in Fantasyland will now hear a familiar voice onboard - Stitch has joined the journey.

The updated onboard audio includes a new Stitch overlay, where the mischievous alien joins the conductor for the approximately 5-minute ride along the shortened railroad loop.

So far, the Stitch audio only plays on the trip from Main Street to Fantasyland. The return journey currently does not feature the Stitch overlay and instead retains the standard conductor narration.

In addition to the audio update, some sections of seating inside the train cars have been rotated, giving riders the option to face either forward or backward during the journey.

The full-circle route of the Walt Disney World Railroad is expected to return once the major expansion in Frontierland is complete.

Lifetime Disney Park ban and welcome to the No Fly List! Joking aside, your experience sums up MK security perfectly.

A bag checker at MK once yelled at me because my backpack had too many zippers.

Sadly agree with security and WDW railroad. I’ve had good luck with tickets though - I try to look for one that looks happy though so maybe that’s why haha.

Not arguing that one bit. The consistently rudest CMs I’ve encountered at WDW have been MK security, MK ticket scanner/gate greeters, and, unfortunately, WDWRR cast.

The WDW railroad cast is pretty lacking unfortunately. They seem to enjoy shouting at guests more than making sure they have a good time. There are some exceptions of course - but I was pretty unimpressed with most of them. The DL railroad cast is sooooo great. Even the “all aboard”‘a are better out in Cali! Haha

That’s a shame. It was a unique touch that couldn’t be found at any other castle park railroad. It is/was. I’m sure it’s something as simple as pushing a button once the approaching a station whistle is heard or once they get notified via the block system. Depending on how many CMs are working Main Street station and the number of people waiting, I’m sure it’d be easy to get overwhelmed and forget about it…………..or pure laziness. Both are realistic possibilities lol.

maybe it’s just very inconsistent- or maybe the cast turns it off or forgets to turn it on? Either way…. Glad the dozen of imagineers didn’t know about it, or stitch would be making the announcement.

I definitely heard it in March. We did 3 round trips on the train throughout our day at MK.

    TrainsOfDisney5 days ago

Disney doesn’t…. But there’s always a foamer that shouts it out! Haha

I heard it a few times once the WDWRR returned in 2022, but it was still spotty, just like it was pre-tron construction closure. Does DL still announce what specific locomotive is arriving at Main Street? I know that was thing with Ripley a long time ago.

    TrainsOfDisney5 days ago

It wasn’t playing before the shuttle service began either.

    Captain Barbossa5 days ago

Yes, it’s not being used during the temporary shuttle service, which makes sense because the audio does say “trip around the Magic Kingdom”, but will return when the full loops do. I just hope that when it does return, it’s played every time a train is arriving at Main Street, like DL, not whenever it feels like it lol.

True, but it's another great cut detail there was just no reason to end it all together. Everything now has to be as minimal and bland as possible. For some reason management does not want the parks to have anything to do with Disney World in a sense, if that makes sense.

I’d prefer character free too, but if we’re gonna get characters, might as well do something cool and have a large roster that randomizes so it’s different each ride. Would incentivize people to ride it more! Better solution though is more to see- add some scenes like at Disneyland and some outdoor figures and such. Seeing is much better than hearing.
