Is work about to start on bringing Starbucks to Disney's Hollywood Studios? Perhaps.
We have known since the original Disney and Starbucks announcement back in April 2012 that Starbucks locations would come to all domestic Disney parks. So far, Starbucks stores have opened at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and most recently Downtown Disney.
The location of Starbucks at Disney's Hollywood Studios has been the subject of much debate on the forums, with both Sid Cahuenga's One-of-a-kind and Starring Rolls Bakery being identified as possible targets. Sid Cahuenga's has recently be converted into Guest Relations to handle MyMagic+, and Starring Rolls location is perhaps not ideal.
A new candidate has now emerged as possibly being the location for the Studios Starbucks. The L.A. Prop Cinema Storage shop, located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd is now listed as being closed for refurbishment from June 16 2014 to February 28 2015. The closure seems far to long to be a routine refurbishment of a store, but just about the right timeframe to reconfigure the space as a new Starbucks. The area also has patio space on both sides of the building that could be used for outdoor seating.
The location certainly fits the Starbucks criteria of being situated in a high visibility, and high traffic area, with all guests passing through that area on their way into the main areas of the park. The L.A. Prop Cinema Storage currently sells a range of plush and other toys which could easily be located elsewhere in the park.
The only thing we know for sure is that a Starbucks will come to the Studios, but the location should be treated as speculation, and no announcement or confirmation has been made by Disney.
