Perhaps Filoni studied the prequels for tips on filming live action

    Wow. She let herself go.

Filming for Season 2 has begun in London, per Rosario Dawson on Instagram.

That's why it seems like an experience thing with live action. There's a big difference between directing animation vs live action. I'm sure it was. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Was it the actors, or the writing and directing? I'm guessing a little of both.

You'd think though because he is so protective that if it wasn't the performance he wanted he would have had them go in a different direction. I think again stoic is the best word for the performance. And I think it was probably for a reason, ie it was to show that these characters have been through something and that they were trying to be guarded rather than "all in the feels" like some expected.

Of course it was Filoni approving, that's what makes it so strange. He's so protective of these characters. I chalk it up to inexperience with live action. Hopefully he learned and adjusted for season two.

I really think they were trying to go for stoic, some pulled it off more than others. But it was obviously a choice with Filoni approving.

It was strange for them to play it so wooden. The whole thing was just off. I surely didn't hate it. But it just didn't live up to what it should have been.

I just hope they act more like they did in Rebels and less like emotionless Vulcans. More Thrawn will be appreciated.

I really hope so. They really didn't do any of the main characters justice. And it's strange because these are Filonis characters so I was expecting a whole lot more.

Based on Filoni’s comments on the press line at Celebration Japan and that concept art teaser for Season 2, I think it will be better made than Season 1 and better done with cast acting and visual flare as well, especially since they’re shooting in London this time and not using The Volume anymore. Also, I think Rory McCann will do Ray Stevenson proud in taking over for the role of Baylan Skoll. Weird does not mean “bad.”

He was definitely the highpoint of the show for me. And the flashbacks with Anakin were good as well. Overall it was just all very average. Hopefully season two isn't written and acted so wooden.

    Wrong.

You do know Qui-Gon Jinn was stabbed in his spine right? He was hit in vital organs and died. Sabine got stabbed in organs that can be replaced or patched up, specifically her appendix. Also, if we’re going by that logic, the Gungan King Boss Lyonie should have died after being stabbed by a dagger in that episode of Season 4 of The Clone Wars but he survived thanks to having bandages that stopped bleeding. Just like Sabine. So use logic and not bias.
