At Walt Disney World, the Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and the bears will be performing a new act in 2024.

Disney Imagineer Chris Beatty says when the show debuts, the bears will be reinterpreting favorite Disney songs in different genres of country music. Imagineers are envisioning the new experience as a homage to the classic musical revues in Nashville and they’re working with Nashville musicians to get the authentic country sound.

Disney said the Country Bear Jamboree will still have the fun and friendly tone fans enjoy with the same famous characters like the loveable Trixie, Big Al and others.

Back when this show opened, many did!

That’s true, but in the context of the show, he’s a kid. The audience shouldn’t be expected to know the full song and use it as context to make the snippet in the show justified.

However, since this isn’t alluded to in the show and since 99.99% percent of guests haven’t heard the full song, this is irrelevant to its presence in the show.

I loved that they had at one time a Christmas Show, Regular, and Summer Vacation show....

That would be nice too. I’d love to see all four shows rotated, but I don’t know how realistic that is. At the very least the original in the fall for its anniversary (or just for milestone anniversaries, like it’s 55th, 60th, 65th, etc) and the Christmas show in the winter, and the new show all other times. I love Vacation Hoedown but I’m not sure how long it takes to change out shows so the less downtime the better.

Or they could just bring back the old show every now and then...

I may be biased because I only just saw it in person for the first time last Sunday, but I would disagree, I don’t think it’s aging poorly yet. Show was fun, and the theater was packed- general audiences still seem to love it. I saw a kid ask their parents to see it again. However- I do think that the show will eventually age poorly due to the inclusion of modern Disney films that haven’t proven longevity yet, like Frozen, Coco, and Zootopia. I think the solution here would be to give the CBMJ some RNG- give each bear three songs they could sing, and have it randomize each time. Sometimes you’ll get Teddi and Wendell doing Whole New World, another time you’ll get Teddi with Henry doing Rainbow Connection while Wendell has a solo instead. Maybe Trixie pairs up with Romeo one show instead of them being solos, and the triplets then get a solo. Lots of different bear combos you could do if you didn’t want every bear to have a solo in a given show. With a few different options each bear, you have so many combinations that you’re guaranteed a different show every time. Though given they didn’t do that from the start, I don’t think we’d see new content added to the show for at least another few years… let’s hope the show keeps getting crowds to warrant additions (and new merch!).

I just realized we're coming up on a year since CBMJ opened. I have to say, I don't think it's aging well. It somehow feels very 2017/18 when Coco came out, yet only opened a year ago.

Still not working, and Romeo’s heart lights weren’t either. But I’m still thrilled I got to see it, and I just can’t wait until I can see it again! It’s even better in person.

Fingers crossed! I’ll try to find some time to redo it.

I’m currently at the park, Ernest’s smoke effect was broken this morning. Anyone know if it’s working again?

We saw this last week. Really funny new show.

Always hate when something like this happens. Obviously I know it’s not real but it always feels unsettling to see a character with their head off or something like that.
