We loved the Year of a Million Dreams theme. It was our first trip to Disney but it was so magical. We were chosen as Year of a Million Dreams family at Animal Kingdom. It was such a great feeling getting picked out . They do come up to you as your walking by and you don't expect it. I think Disney World would be magical no matter what theme they do, but there was something about walking into a theme park everyday and wondering if you would be picked for something special. It made it that much more exciting.
i think it has been one of my fav. themes. disney world is a dream in itself. i think its fitting to call it a yoamd becuase it is spreding disney magic all over. for many people, they will cant get to disney world, and entering the contest disney is sponsering sends prizes to everyone, even those not present in the parks. its a great oppurtunity.
On our first trip to WDW 2/07. After eight magical days of pure bliss touring all the parks and seeing everything like we were children (we're a couple in our 30's) We were sitting outside our resort (Coronado Springs) waiting for our Magical Express Bus to drag us to the Orlando airport. A wonderful woman invited us to enjoy a WDW Limo instead of taking the bus. We were given a Dream ride. What a wonderful way to end an amazing vacation.
Ok. I'm very happy about this Celebration. This was my second vacation to Disney World and it was the best ever! First of all there were a bunch of banners all over the magic kingdom. And the Magic kingdom Stage Show was totally awesome. It was so exciting. Then when we went to epcot, I went to test track. After that I played with the toy cars in the gift shop. I got a Dream Certificate for playing with it. Thank god The celebration was extended.
I must admit that I was a critic of this until I won, not one, but TWO Dreams! All the Dreams (yes, it is capitalized) are given out before 11 AM - yet another reason to go into the parks early. Second, if you really really really want a Dream, you have to go to the obscure attractions. The Disney folks are not gonna select a few people out of a huge crowd when everybody but the winners will short-changed. I have the toddler in my traveling party to thank. He dragged us on to Small World thirty minutes after we arrived in MK - a very dumb touring choice. At the exit we were given pin-trading lanyards with two pins each of $12 value! Also, you can trade those pins for very rare pins. That was nice, but our family's Dream was to get Dream FastPasses. The next day at AK we were dragged on to Pangani Forest Trek while we waited for our Kilimanjaro FastPasses. We - and a young French couple - got AK Dream FastPasses! (That was the day the guy died on Expedition Everest. We rode it only a hour before he did.) I would've preferred them at Epcot, but it was our last day and it got us on Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl twice in a row because we kept switching them around. THERE ARE LOTS OF PRIZES GIVEN DAILY. TO WIN, GET THERE EARLY AND RIDE MINOR ATTRACTIONS.
It is a good idea, but only a select few people get to experience the special "dreams." The Fastpasses would be a great gift to enjoy the experience more and the Hotel upgrades would be awesome, but not too many people will get to experience it. I am being forced to put up a rating against my will...
