New Themed-Walkway Concrete Work in Adventureland - September 20 2024

Construction continues in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland, where crews are expanding the new themed walkway.

The path now stretches from the land’s entrance all the way to the Swiss Family Treehouse.

The updated walkway features detailed concrete work, including track marks and varying textures that blend with the existing Adventureland theme. This attention to detail contrasts with the more basic concrete surfaces previously found throughout much of the park.

Here are some updated photos showing the latest developments:

Themed pavement is always a good improvement over standard theme park blacktop or grey asphalt or whatever it technically is. Not many people even think about it but the way the ground looks can drastically affect the overall aesthetics of an area. Because, when you think about it, the ground is filling 1/3rd of your vision most of the time. For instance, I live in an apartment complex that had a cracking, aging, fading parking lot. It made the place look like a dump. When they finally came through and resurfaced it, suddenly the whole complex looked brand new.

The kiosks near the Adventureland bridge were recently moved as more pavement has been replaced - photos from today: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54287211739_b47e8b97b1_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54287067793_817b0020c0_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54287067513_590ebbf1db_k.jpg

Thank goodness. With the weather in Florida, this is by far my biggest concern with pavement in the parks. I feel that same twinge, but I think we'll always have the World Showcase. Oh my. Now I'm imagining them bringing this level of detail to Frontierland. o_O That area is already themed Bringing more brick would be greatly appreciated. As long as it's still grippy. I took a video of this yesterday. Very compelling. Would you like to share with the class?

I imagine Caribbean Plaza will stay the same, and if that's the case, there's just the area around Carpets and in front of Jungle Cruise to do left?

This you, re: Rivers of America? ↓ Like this, my statement was an exaggeration that wasn't intended to be taken literally. I agree with Epcot81Fan, there are more things that unite us than divide us. Edit: judging from some earlier reactions, I cannot believe it but feel I need to clarify my earlier post to state that I wasn't actually saying Disney would ever consider unleashing mosquitos in Adventureland to improve the theme. I'm using that as an example of something which, would *technically* improve realism of a theme, but would -- of course -- not be done. I think we'd all recognize that. I hope. Walking over new pavement with cracks is nowhere near the same level as worrying about getting malaria from mosquitos, of course. But I do think it's a small step in the direction of things that could be done that would improve realism that could take someone out of a fictionalized fantasy world with no problems. A world where you forget about real life problems like your cracking driveway back at home while you gladly fork over $15 for a Dole Whip. Or maybe y'all are better with your driveway upkeep than I am. I salute you all but mostly America.

Guys, guys, let’s step back and focus on the things all of us can agree on. There is more that unites us than divides us. For example, we can all agree that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does indeed NOT improve the experience in any measurable way for any single guest. There, doesn’t that feel better?

Everything like that is on a schedule and sometimes there may be extenuating circumstances that move certain areas ahead or behind in the queue.
