New Themed-Walkway Concrete Work in Adventureland - September 20 2024
Posted: Friday September 20, 2024 11:!5am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Construction continues in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland, where crews are expanding the new themed walkway.

The path now stretches from the land’s entrance all the way to the Swiss Family Treehouse.

The updated walkway features detailed concrete work, including track marks and varying textures that blend with the existing Adventureland theme. This attention to detail contrasts with the more basic concrete surfaces previously found throughout much of the park.

Here are some updated photos showing the latest developments:

I'm just thrilled it took priority over adding an attraction to Adventureland or fixing the shrill squeaks that plague the Aladdin spinner. It's nice. Pointless, but nice.

No one will see it they are to busy on their phones --who is gonna look down?

It'd almost be funny if it wasn't real haha. Some people just need to whine about everything I guess, and it kills the community. I'd be more engaged if every other post wasn't acting like the parks are in ruin. Perhaps some peeps need to check out other parks for some perspective.

I love the new pavement!

WDW can't catch a break. Here, pavement theming gets poo poohed. Meanwhile on a parallel thread right now about the refurbed exterior of The Plaza restaurant, people are decrying the security cameras that are screwing up the theming around WDW. Damned if they do. Damned if they don't.

Was not impressed at all by the new concrete in Adventureland. It's rather rough, so those with mobility issues, wheelchairs, strollers, etc., may not be terribly happy about rolling over this "authentic improvement". YMMV. I know my mother-in-law, in particular, would have to be rather careful walking on it.

I never saw snow, but at the top of the lift hill as you began, you passed through some fog and mist that felt cold before the first stop.... and the Yeti was very impressive.... Because it has been broken so long, people have gotten used to the disco version, but when that hand came down towards your train, and wall the other motion, and the depth of the set fully lit, it was very impressive... I would have thought they could figure out a way to at least bring partial motion back... even if it is just the head and face with some projection effects making it look like the walls of the cave are crumbling or something like that..... I mean, surely the head and face working would not continue to cause problems with the foundation.... or whatever it actually was that caused them to shut it down...

It's comparable to Animal Kingdom. Would you prefer plain gray concrete in AK? If your answer is "No", there's your theme answer.

Supposed to be a Moroccan souk with dirt paths and you enter the central market complete with central spinner and golden spitting camels.....

The theming is in the details of the concrete. It gives off the appearance of walking on earth rather than pavement, or at least it’s meant to evoke that visual. It’s place making.

What is supposed to be the point of this? Like, how is haphazardly colored concrete "themed"?

Much appreciated, thank you
