Walt Disney World custodial cast members are now wearing newly redesigned costumes across the resort. The updated look, which blends functional upgrades with visual updates, is the latest result of a long-term effort by Disney Live Entertainment’s Costuming team to modernize cast wardrobes while incorporating cast feedback.
The new custodial costumes feature:
- Moisture-wicking, sun-protective fabrics
- Added stretch for flexibility on the job
- Adjustable pant legs that cinch at the ankle
- More pockets and functional details
- Vibrant blue and white color scheme
Cast members participated in wear testing and design feedback sessions to help guide the process. According to Costume Designer Nicole, the goal was to create something “comfortable and confident” for those who create Disney magic every day.
While the look is new, the design retains a familiar element: the sweeping Mickey Mouse logo that has long been a staple of the custodial costume. Costume Development Manager Danielle said the team wanted to balance familiarity with something “new and exciting” that reflects the evolving needs of the role.
Other upgrades include a new hat, sourced from a women-owned vendor. The hat was chosen specifically for its adjustable fit, safety features, and compatibility with glasses and various hairstyles.
These new custodial outfits join over 893 costume designs already in circulation at Walt Disney World. With around 140 million garments in the costuming system, this update is part of a broader effort to support cast members through updated designs with better fit, comfort, and functionality.
More costume updates across other roles are expected to debut soon.
