Cinderella Castle stage refurbishment - February 16 2021
Posted: Tuesday February 16, 2021 11:30am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The Cinderella Castle stage is currently under refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom.

The stage has not been used since the COVID-19 closure in March 2020, and it appears to have taken a toll on the surface.

Although the stage itself is walled off, it is still possible to walk through the castle.

There is no word yet on when any show will return to the stage, but Disney obviously has an eye towards the upcoming 50th celebrations beginning in October of this year.

I'm in the minority, but I actually liked them. I thought they added some pizzaz to an otherwise bland looking stage. Now, if there were no stage, I'd obviously be fine without the arches. Also, I'd take those arches any day over the Mickey one seen here during and around the 25th anniversary.

The arches will not at all be missed. They were so incredibly tacky.

How fitting that the arches installed for one 50th birthday celebration get removed for another 50th birthday celebration.

Thank goodness 🙏🙏🙏

I think we can finally stick a fork in those arches, railings installed on both staircases.

Might Today's news about a Show for Merriest AH be connected?

There’s something happening after Halloween…

They must have a new/returning show coming back soon? Wonder why they haven't announced it

Right, that’s what I thought I remembered. So I imagine that they won’t clutter the right side with 5 arches even if they do come back.

Yep. Asymmetrical before whereas it is now symmetrical. Previous version for reference from just before the Covid closure (boo to the arches, but goodness do I miss the non-pink castle scheme):

It looks like they've changed the layout. Wasn't it asymmetrical before with a taller stage, longer staircase, and more arches on the right? For that reason, even if the arches return, I imagine they won't be as visually distracting due to the lower profile design.
