EPCOT's brand-new World Celebration Gardens is now open, and guests got a first look this evening at the area's impressive new lighting package.

The area features thousands of light fixtures that are fully programmable, allowing designers to synchronize the lighting effects in World Celebration Gardens to the front of the park and Spaceship Earth's points of light. The lighting design even allows for interior lighting at Connections Cafe to be synchronized with what is happening outside.

Watch the video below for a look at the World Celebration Gardens nighttime lighting effects.

Leu Gardens here in Orlando had a static version of this at their Dazzling Nights presentation (which was very fun for $25 for anyone local!). The whole time I could only think about what a modern version of this could be at Epcot. Modern technology could easily enhance this into something even better. Yet no... Oh - I didn't think about that... Is it doing any better getting tenants these days? Because it was struggling for awhile.

Since it's the season, just remember, these were removed as the tech was allegedly past its prime. Unlike that new fangled super reliable modern tech.

I finally realized that something in the real world reminds me of the new EPCOT. The Sundial mall in downtown St. Petersburg has a courtyard that had a fountain. This year, they redesigned the courtyard with new seating, new covered area, and fake grass.

Whatever happened to the spectacular seasonal displays that were supposed to be installed in the Mulva Planter? That was the thing that was supposed to make it more dynamic... I thought they would at least have something fantastic like the concept art for the holidays... I would love to create that actual display for them... Actually I would love to design a holiday program for that entire central garden area making it a spectacle for the holidays...

The Magic of Possibilities...Meaning it's possible it will work or not....

Unfortunately it seems this is the new normal. Bare bones design with no effort or magic. The powers that be seem to have zero clue why people fell in love with the parks to begin with, and are slowly destroying all of the little things that make them magical. I hope it reverses before it's too late.

That's still not a reason to celebrate them half baking the fix. It's a million (billion?) dollar park people are paying over a hundred bucks to get into. They should have all their lights working. I could understand a comment that it's a nice start and good to know they're working on it but "Christmas miracle" and clapping emojis? Come on. They're professionals, not a band of kids in elementary school.

We just had a Thanksgiving weekend. I wouldn't have expected any work on fixing the lights to happen until tomorrow night.

Because for almost a year 0% of them were working. 🥴 We're already back to that away. 😒
