It's probably more fun than the ride imo. In all seriousness, the electronic music stations are a blast to wave your hand around and have it translate into musical notes. The photo stations are cool to send photos to your e-mail address, albeit with some figment alterrations. Take a stroll around once and something will catch your eye. Not nearly as good as the old image works used to be, but if you try to forget about that you won't be disappointed.
At the end of Imagination, people must walk through image works. It has a variety if exhibits, the best being the one that you can conduct music by just hand signals. The place is often loud and we usually don't spend much time there. There is a lot of Kodak stuff in it as well.
I agree with grizzlyhall on this one. I miss the old Imageworks... as far as I'm concerned it's now one big Kodak commercial. For that matter, what's up with the pre-show for Honey I Shrunk...? Did they ever consider a theme RELATED to the show, and not some 5 minute sappy Kodak commercial? Please...bring back Figment, Imageworks, and give us a decent pre-show.
PLACE FOR KIDS TO BE KIDS IN A HANDS ON ENVIROMENT. KIND OF GETS OLD AFTER AWHILE.
When I was smaller, and the original Journey Into Your Imagination attraction was around, it emptied into the ImageWorks area. This area used to be a great playplace for children, full of interesting little exhibits and games to try. Particularly interesting was where you could wave your hands over some light pads and act like you're conducting a symphony. Somehow, since changes were made to the entire pavilion as a whole, this area has become lame and less interesting. Not simply for me as I've aged, but from hearing children in the area now. They find it quite lame as do I.
There are some fun activities here, just not enough of them to warrant making this a "must see". The most amusing part of this pavilion is this area with pictures on the floor of noisemakers (such as a bowling ball hitting pins). As you step on the picture, you hear the sound. There was something almost musical to the bizarre cacophony of sounds my sons and I created jumping from picture to picture.
The ImageWorks at Imagination (and the similar one at Journey into Imagination before it) is a charming little area with some interactive exhibits for kids (and kids at heart) to enjoy. The original was the better of the two, but by the mid-1990s seemed dreadfully out-of-date and was no match for the larger, more up-to-date Innoventions. The new version does not even try to compete, but has a variety of cute exhibits mostly dealing with distorting pictures (ever wodner what you'd look like as a cat, flower, or cartoon character?). Either version was worth a look if you're on a looser shcedule.
I AM CURRENTLY SPEAKING ABOUT THE ORIGINAL 1982-1998 IMAGE WORKS - - not the excuse in it's place today!! Located **UPSTAIRS** (currently being demolished) at the Imagination/Journey into Imagination pavilion, this area was once home to a school of drama, giant paint brushes, a world of music, a symphony conducting area, a walk-through sensory rainbow, giant pin tables, and more than you can imagine! This area was EXCELLENT for anyone who gave any of the exhibits a try. In its place , but downstirs, are digitized trashcan noises(on a flat screen), regular computer areas, and one small area of stepping tones (once used to make music). This area (currently at EPCOT) is a total waste of time; it's almost identical to a program you can use at home on a personal computer or at Innoventions. Totally unimaginative.
