Walt Disney World Reveals New Custodial Costumes with Updated Fit and Style

Walt Disney World is updating the look of its Custodial cast members with a new costume design set to roll out soon across the parks and resorts. The Walt Disney World Ambassadors offered a behind-the-scenes preview, showcasing the new look and sharing insight into the design process.

The updated outfits feature a bright, clean design with blue cargo-style shorts or pants paired with a white and blue top.

The new look reflects Disney’s broader initiative to refresh cast costumes across many roles. As with other recent wardrobe updates, the goal is to involve cast members throughout development and focus on real-world function as much as appearance.

I'm no fool, so no need to suffer me. Though from your attitude it seems there is little glad around you. It's not a contest, but I've got another decade on you around here, and I've been judicious with my posts. Mostly I try to be kind, or funny, or interesting, until I see someone attacking others for little to no reason. I ignore no one, and it is extremely rare that I feel the need to call anyone out...so that makes you special.

White works well in the Flo sun and this position can spend a good deal of time out there. White clothes worked for perception of cleanliness, in ways similar to how white glove service implies very high standards. It’s outdated thinking though - because it was a way to ‘prove’ hygiene. But WDW isn’t making food workers wear all white, arguably more important in that position. So what else is left beside sunshine. Status/caste? I realize most people aren’t ever thinking of it like that, but does reinforce it to those who choose to think along those lines. The all white sometimes gave me an unintentional ‘nurse’ vibe at WDW, reminiscent from the days nurses used to wear all white. There too, it hadperceptions of high standards and sterility. Also became outdated and morphed over to the more practical and functional.

Bowling shirt reminds of the overweight kid ( me ) back in the day who preferred it to a shirt I had to tuck into my pants.

That sounds great. Having worn them it would help. The images don't evoke cool to me with what the material looks like, but it is hard to tell from an image.

Costumes are being redesigned or reevaluated to use lighter cooler fabrics and addressing cast concerns and comfort. This project was set in motion with the last union contract negotiation.

Costumes changed fairly recently for Custodial(relevative) End of 2011. Not sure why the need to change again before others, but it got budgeted. It does help with some of the reasons stated. I was more bummed when Universal changed their Park Services custodial outfits, at they were all themed to each land they were in at IOA. (and Potter still gets to hold this)
