Disney has shared more details on the new mural that is part of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, opening in late 2024 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Hailing from Louisiana, artist Malaika Favorite has produced all-new artwork that will decorate the walls as part of the queue of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Watch the video below to hear from Malaika.

Taking inspiration from the numerous murals and other works of art that decorate building exteriors throughout New Orleans, Princess Tiana's desire to adorn the location with art is in keeping with the spirit that artwork is to be enjoyed and accessed by everyone.

Continuing the storyline from "The Princess and the Frog," Malaika's mural for Tiana's Bayou Adventure features a collage of scenes displayed on two of the building's exterior walls as you enter the indoor queue. These scenes highlight Tiana's professional journey and the creation of Tiana's Foods. When Tiana was young, her father made her promise to "never, ever lose sight of what is really important," and the mural will reflect those elements: family, friends, food, music, art, and bringing folks together.

Carmen Smith, Senior Vice President, Creative Development - Product/Content & Inclusive Strategies said, "I am humbled by the level of research and detail Walt Disney Imagineering has paid to bringing the authenticity of New Orleans to Disney parks and resorts to immerse guests in this empowering tale. When you visit Tiana's Bayou Adventure, we want you to feel like you have truly stepped foot inside the next chapter of "The Princess and the Frog" in a way only Disney can bring to life."

I don’t know when, maybe ten-fifteen years, but I have hopes that some executive will come along and say “this does not work” and make some strong story choices to enhance this ride. The ride is not irreparable it just needs someone with a stronger vision at the helm.

If it even makes it that long!

"Come ride the ride, where you'll see almost nothing you recognize from the film you love!" (And some of it won't be working.)

It really is quite impressive how they've neglected this IP with a namesake attraction that's riddled with issues and lacks any resemblance to the movie. Can't fix it so they're just letting it slowly waste away.

Well, the effects and lighting would be broken by now...

Hey, imagine a lift hill with Dr. Faciliar singing "Are you ready?" With effects and lighting mimicking what is depicted in the film? Imagine...

Courtesy of ChatGPT: Name: Dr. Worm Species: Earthworm Occupation: Self-taught Bayou Musicologist & Accordion Virtuoso Instrument: Button Accordion (custom-built for worm anatomy) Backstory: Deep beneath the mossy floor of the bayou lives Dr. Worm — not a doctor in the traditional sense, but a passionate scholar of bayou beats and backwoods boogie. Ever since he wriggled into an old music box buried in the mud, he’s been obsessed with learning every kind of rhythm that echoes through the Louisiana wetlands. Cajun, zydeco, jazz, even old riverboat tunes — Dr. Worm knows them all, and he’s got the footnotes (and wormholes) to prove it. Dr. Worm crafted his own tiny accordion out of bottle caps, fishing line, and a discarded harmonica reed. He might not have hands, but that’s never stopped him from bringing soulful squeezebox melodies to every critter gathering from dawn 'til dusk. Though he’s soft-spoken and polite, Dr. Worm is full of surprising wisdom and unexpected grooves. He joins Tiana’s Mardi Gras mission not just to play — but to document the rhythms of joy, community, and celebration. Fun Fact: He insists on being called “Doctor” out of respect for his lifelong study of music (and because he says, “Professor Worm just didn’t have the same swing to it”). Catchphrase: “Now that’s a rhythm worth wrigglin’ for.”

California still has the mist but it looks like WDW's is gone for good.

They should hear that dude out and do the opposite next time.

I doubt they ever considered making the attraction a book report (I think Frederick Chambers' pitch was, but unless he somehow got his hands on the original plans for the retheme before it was announced and claimed that he came up with it himself...). The most frequent complain about the film I see is that the first black princess is an animal for most of it. Chances are they wouldn't have had her be an animal for most of the ride too.

Wait, stop, I'm sorry. Are you kidding me? The big amazing swamp fog (or whatever) effect they touted for months that turned out to just be poorly positioned mist machines is just... gone?? So, like, the main lift is just... colored lights now? Good lord.
