Walt Disney World's character meet and greets took a step closer to returning to pre-COVID normality this morning with the reopening of Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom.
Mickey Mouse is making appearances inside the theater, and although guests are divided by a rope and can't hug Mickey or get autographs, it is a return to individualized time with Mickey for the first time in 19 months. Masks are required, and PhotoPass is not available.
Inside, Mickey is sporting his EARidescent look designed just for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Minnie Mouse is not joining Mickey yet, and the Tinker Bell meet and greet in the theater remains closed.
More character meet and greets will be returning soon to Disney World, including Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom, Red Carpet Dreams, and Disney Jr at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Watch the video below for a quick look at Mickey Mouse appearing earlier today at Town Square Theater.
Congratulations to the cast members returning as part of the reopening. The Walt Disney World entertainment department has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic shutdown, and this reopening is a big step forward to seeing many cast members return to their roles.
