Lightning Lane Single Pass for TRON Lightcycle Run Drops to Record Low Price

For the first time ever, TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom is set to drop below $20 for Lightning Lane Single Pass pricing tomorrow, November 21, 2024.

The record low of $19 marks a shift in the attraction's pricing strategy, which has maintained a minimum price of $20 since its debut as an Individual Attraction Purchase during the Genie+ era.

Historical Pricing Patterns

Since its opening, TRON Lightcycle Run remained fixed at $20 under Genie+ Individual Attraction Purchase and has followed a consistent dynamic pricing model under Lightning Lane Single Pass, typically ranging between $20 and $22. Tomorrow's price of $19 sets a new record low, signaling Disney's continued experimentation with demand-based pricing.

Why This Matters

First Price Drop Below $20: TRON has never been priced this low, offering guests an unexpected opportunity to experience Magic Kingdom's newest thrill ride at a slightly reduced cost.

Dynamic Pricing Trends: The shift below $20 reflects a broader trend of Disney using dynamic pricing to manage guest demand, potentially testing new pricing strategies ahead of the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas period.

TRON's Popularity and Crowd Dynamics

TRON Lightcycle Run remains one of Magic Kingdom's most popular attractions, with Lightning Lane passes frequently selling out on weekends and high-demand dates. However, as the holiday season approaches, Disney appears to be optimizing pricing to balance demand across multiple high-profile attractions, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Low Prices Elsewhere

November 21 is also set for equally record low prices for all other Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass purchases. Although there are no new record lows beyond TRON, this period before Thanksgiving offers guests some of the lowest prices for Disney's paid ride reservation system.

Just purchased my lightning lanes for my trip. Got all the rides I wanted :) (some are a bit later but gonna keep refreshing). Seemed like a pretty decent experience, everything worked the way i thought it would atleast

If I was a local AP holder I would not purchase LLMP, because, yeah, you’re right, you can duck in and out whenever you want and ride the occasional ride when waits are low. But as an out of stater who is paying thousands for flights, hotels, rental car, etc, you better believe I’m shelling out the extra $30ish per person per day so that I don’t spend my (limited) time in the parks standing in line.

No, if I felt we needed the LLMP for MK, I would have bought it. But we're visiting the park so many times, especially at night, that it seemed like we were likely to make it on everything.

This also ignores that many people will simply just... not ride a line after a certain wait time? Like yeah, it might be a miniscule shorter line, because it doesn't have the same amount of guests going through the line anyway. There's many reasons to attribute to a relatively minor increase and even if that, if the FP increases lines by 5-10 minutes or less but allows certain people to complete their day while the people that don't pay MAY have to wait 5 minutes more, what is the problem? They have the option to wait still...

To me Genie knowing the drops times made it so much easier which im assuming most vets on this board knew about & it didnt even require a true early rope drop.

That is similar to our situation when we started going. We got so much done with FP+ and early arrivals. The kids were so spoiled almost never waiting in line. We didn’t get as much done with Genie or the current setup but that’s because Disney won’t allow repeat rides anymore.

May i ask a question and feel free to tell me to mind my own business. But is passing on paying for LLMP or ILL a money or principle issue? Listen i agree i hate to pay for anything that use to be free and im a man of principle more than anything but im also not going to bite my nose to spite my face.

We’ve never had a bad trip going that way, but we are a much smaller party of two. Again, your best bet is to take advantage of early morning and late night hours. Get up early, get to the parks when they open, take a nice break in the afternoon back at the room when the parks are busy and hot, go to dinner, and enjoy the cooler and less crowded evening hours, especially during parades and fireworks if you like. If you are staying at a luxury resort, you will have an extra advantage of certain exclusive hours throughout the week. For one person, it’s difficult to justify the price increase from a value or moderate resort to a deluxe for that perk, but it becomes easier to justify when you have more people staying in the room.

I've got LLSP for Tron, so that's covered. We'll just have to take our chances, I guess.

We haven't had to buy it for MK, but we do go a different time of year so not sure how well in translates over.

Everything except Tron (not included in MP anyway, averages 1 hour wait.)

I didn't buy MK LLMP for any day of our trip, but we're spending 1 day and 3 nights at MK, so I figure we'll have plenty of chances to get on everything...am I wrong?

Rope dropping to me still holds if you are looking to avoid wait times and avoid paying for any services Disney offers. Same pretty much holds true towards end of night as well. Its about one of the fee constants at the world over the years…

Sitting in MCO right now. Went to the parks with my daughter for a day to see TSI for the first and last time. We purchased MK LLMP but had hoppers and arrived at the park at 10am. Because of an extra $60 purchase we did: SM Tron (Standby) Pirates HM TSI JC RnRC MMRR ToT Falcon (Could have done Midway Mania) Remy (Could have done SSE and Soarin) TBA Pan Buzz CoP We chose not to do any of the other rides (we decided to eat or have snacks or watch fireworks) but they were short waits. Could have done Mine Train standby. Point being is that the extra $60 afforded us the ability to maximize the hoppers, have a great day and also have a sit down meal at Shiki Sai. Never had to wait more than 10-15m for a ride. I say that has incredible value.
