Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Closes Due to Hurricane Debby Weather Impact at Walt Disney World

Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon is closed today (August 5) due to poor weather resulting from Hurricane Debby.

While Disney World has not seen any extreme weather from Hurricane Debby, the outer bands of Hurricane Debby are producing numerous intense rain storms and gusty winds. Central Florida remains under a Tornado Watch until 4 pm. Scattered tropical storm force wind gusts (up to 50 mph) remain possible throughout today along with additional rainfall of 2-5" (locally 6"+).

The four main Walt Disney World theme parks are operating normally, although some outdoor attractions are temporarily closed due to the weather.

What happened to the fearmonger saying it was going to rain all week at WDW? Surely WDW has closed down due to the amount of rain they are getting and Orlando has descended into utter chaos... *checks local news channels and weather reports* Hmmm... None of the fearmonger's predictions came true? Shocking. When can we expect the next round of fearmongering weather predictions?

Because it's recommended you seek shelter even if it's not on the ground. It's not that difficult and completely different than saying the worst was still hitting Orlando. You know what hit Orlando? Heavy rain. That's about it.

Yes tornado warning with the posted warnings from the forum member for people to seek shelter immediately

A hurricane warning was not issued. A tornado warning, which is different from a tornado watch, was issued due to radar indications. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center Storm Reports for yesterday do not list any tornadoes in Florida, suggesting that despite the radar indications a tornado did not actually form and touch down. The wind in Bay Lake was such a non-issue that Disney put out unsecured, unweighted sign boards announcing potential area closures during the fireworks.

Inclement weather like recently surely derails anticipated shows like this and disappoints many that will miss it.

This sign was posted in the vicinity of the carousel yesterday evening. I left before the show started so I am not sure what actually happened back there.

Oh but there was a hurricane warning Gring posted with instructions of seek shelter immed. 🙄 at Bay Lake which is WDW ( even you Dead posting advising tornado close to WDW) . Not fear mongering by a mile.

Dead2009Aug 06, 2024

So it looks like Orlando was spared even with the fear mongering. I hope the one member on here that was traveling today was able to make it without issue.

Luminous ran tonight without Pyro, which makes sense considering they probably had to make the call a while ago when unsure about weather.

Getting insurance is one thing if your home can pass the 4 point inspection by the independent home inspector. If not get ready to make repairs $$$ to pass inspection. State Farm BTW will no longer insure homes that are more than 30 years old.

Lots of it is rolling down the stock market drains today.

GhostHost1000Aug 05, 2024

Ok that’s what I was thinking. There were some that aren’t

In Florida it is a problem with getting insurance... Our rates are crazy...and we are not waterfront. my small 2 bedroom non waterfont house insurance is over 10k

Some areas are and some areas aren't. Many performers are EQUITY but photopass CM's are non-union.
