Time is running out for guests who want one last meal at a longtime dining spot in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano will close permanently at the end of the day on Saturday, May 10, 2025, as Disney prepares to transform the area into the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land, Monstropolis.

Final Chance for Familiar Favorite

Mama Melrose's has served up hearty Italian-American fare in a Hollywood-themed setting for decades.

With just a few days remaining, fans looking to enjoy one final visit to either location should make dining reservations or stop in soon. After May 10, the restaurant will be permanently shuttered as construction begins on the new themed area.

Part of a Larger Redevelopment

These closure is part of a phased transformation of the Grand Avenue area, which will also include the closure of PizzeRizzo and Muppet*Vision 3D, set for their final day of operation on June 7, 2025. The space will be reimagined into Monstropolis, featuring Harryhausen's Restaurant, a flying door rollercoaster, and the Monstro Theater.

Stay tuned for more updates on the redevelopment and the arrival of the new Monsters, Inc. land at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

While I am sure that poster does have positive feelings about the parks, they tend not to show them in their posts. They are more of a doom and gloomer, which is sad, because their posts are always so articulate and beautifully-written.

According to Casper, everything added to the parks since 1995:

All the shows I listed were developed solely by Imagineering without any outside funding like the Asia parks, that's why I listed them as examples 🙂 and until we see the Little Mermaid show in full, we cannot judge. But if you want to judge early, at least look at the positive response it seems to be getting on the Mermaid thread from just the teaser they've released and images 😀

We know what The Little Mermaid is. It was a weak show 32 years ago when it opened. Bringing it back is essentially self-satire regarding the current creative level of WDW. Only one of the shows you listed is in America, Bears, and it’s representative of the quality of modern WDW shows. It removes all the character and humor from a show more talented creators designed and replaces it with IP.

I think you can only draw that comparison if the Little Mermaid show opening next week isn't good. On a side note, the past few years have seen positive (for the majority) shows like Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Moana on the Disney Treasure, and Together: A Pixar Celebration at Disneyland Paris Modern Disney is perfectly capable of making good shows and hopefully the Monsters show replacing Muppets is of similar quality

After seeing the new Villains show, does anyone still believe modern Disney is capable of creating a show that is remotely comparable in quality to replace Muppets? Does anyone still believe they intend to try?

Except Toy Story Land doesn’t have those spaces to duck into.

It also drives people into shops and dining venues and creates the illusion of popularity through perceived crowding.

Completely agree! There is no where to stop and enjoy TSL because you are always in the walking path. Maybe the bridge to Slinky, I guess, is a little out of the way, but that is it.

The car, turning into Mickey. It makes zero sense, and is just plain dumb. Bean is second fiddle stupid compared to Waldo. Listen, I grew up on Muppets. Loved them. Went to the movies and saw them. But it's time for something else.

There's no if about it, it's gonna hit 400million in it's worldwide opening weekend. It's also going to break the memorial day weekend record.
