Disney's Hollywood Studios is adding some fresh flavors to its menu lineup, with new dishes set to debut at two spots: Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, starting October 23, 2024.

At Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, two hearty options are coming to the menu:

  • Beamed-Up Burger with Fries: This burger goes beyond the basic with two-pressed signature-blend patties, topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, and a jalapeño-bourbon-bacon jam, all on a brioche bun. House-made burger sauce completes this indulgent option.
  • Prime Rib Sandwich: Served on a toasted hoagie roll, this sandwich packs in shaved prime rib, provolone cheese, house-made giardiniera, and arugula, with a side of au jus for dipping.

Meanwhile, Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano is introducing a mix of new dishes:

  • Mama's Pasta with Shrimp: This dish blends a three-cheese sauce with sautéed kale, roasted butternut squash, wild mushrooms, and cavatappi pasta, topped with shrimp for a balanced mix of savory and seasonal flavors.
  • Tuscan White Bean Purée: A plant-based option, this purée is made with roasted garlic, eggplant, fresh herbs, and a drizzle of chili oil for a punch of heat.
  • Braised Wagyu Beef on Orecchiette: For those seeking something rich, this dish combines red wine-braised Wagyu beef, dried cherries, and pink peppercorn, served over orecchiette pasta for a bold, savory experience.

There is wagyu and there is wagyu. The fact that this is a braised dish leads me to believe that this is lower grade (1 or 2) wagyu, and is likely "American Wagyu". If you have some A5 Kobe, why would you braise it? These items are all things that can easily be thrown together using Sysco products. Even the so-called "house made giardiniera" Here is my guess for the house made giardiniera Mix together the following in a Cambro 1 2LB Sysco Carrot, Diced, Grade A 1 #10 Can Sysco Arrezzlo Imperial Pepper Red Roasted Pieces 1 5LB Sysco Imperial Fresh Onion Diced 1 5LB Sysco Imperial Fresh Celery Diced .375" 1 5LB Sysco Pepper Greens Diced Fresh 1 5L Sysco Imperial White Wine Vinegar Italy 1 1LB Extra Fine Cane Sugar (From Sysco, but in 50lb sacks) 1 6oz Sysco Seasoning Italian Let sit overnight in the walk in - serve it the next day to guests as "House Made Giardiniera" Disney is not in the back hand dicing vegetables they harvested from the farm for these kinds of meals

Changing carpets is a minimal easy thing for disney as it has miles and miles of fabric it can get its hands on but taking the time to create a custom menu item that uses wagyu beef is no joke. If it was that common on disney property we would see wagyu beef a lot more. Then again I would not put it above disney to use some cheap beef they got their hands on while labeling it as wagyu.

while I agree, they have done things before like replacing the carpet in universe of energy before closing etc so I wouldn't give the menu changes an exact pass of safety.

I guess this gives us an answer in a way. Muppets IS NOT ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK. If muppets was on the chopping block they would not be putting in effort to update the menu as we all know that if they did decide to do the monsters inc then it would require also wiping out Mama Melrose. That means the launch bay is likely the one in the crosshairs.
