Description

Walt Disney World begins the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the birth of its visionary founder, Walt Disney (born on December 5, 1901). The focus of the 17-month-long "100 Years of Magic" Celebration is centered at the Disney-MGM Studios. The following parades and attractions also opened in honor of the celebration: 

122-foot-tall Sorcerer Mickey Hat Icon, which serves as the centerpiece of the celebration, is located on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Great Movie Ride at the Disney-MGM Studios. 

"Playhouse Disney-Live On Stage!" opens at the Disney-MGM Studios. This new stage show features Bear in the Big Blue House™-Live on Stage!, as well as characters from "Rolie Polie Olie," "Stanley," and other Playhouse Disney favorites. 

"Walt Disney: One Man's Dream" which takes Guests on a journey through the life of Walt Disney opens at the Disney-MGM Studios. 

"Disney Stars and Motor Cars" parade opens at the Disney-MGM Studios (Unofficially opens to Guests on September 24, 2001) 

The "Share a Dream Come True" parade opens at the Magic Kingdom (Unofficially opens to Guests on September 21, 2001) 

"Tapestry of Dreams" opens at Epcot (Unofficially opens to Guests on September 24, 2001. "Tapestry of Nations" closed on September 9, 2001.) 

"Mickey's Jammin' Jungle" Parade opens at Disney's Animal Kingdom (Unofficially opens to Guests on September 24, 2001) 

"Cinderella's Surprise Celebration," a new Castle Forecourt Stage show opens at the Magic Kingdom (Unofficially opens to Guests on September 29, 2001)
