The inaugural runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort will combine some past runDisney events for a nostalgic four day race weekend in 2022.

The 2022 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will feature:

  • Expedition Everest 5K (April 1, 2022 - $100) – The race will once again feature a nighttime 5K combined with a scavenger hunt, but this time the hunt will be conducted during the 5K. $100

  • Race for the Taste 10K (April 2, 2022 - $135) – The event will mirror the 10K from the past, but now the race will celebrate the newest attraction at Walt Disney World Resort, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT. $135

  • The Tower of Terror 10-Miler (April 3, 2022 - $190) – The race will still be a 10-miler, but will be run in the morning instead of at night. $190

Runners who sign up for the $445 Springtime Surprise Challenge, can test their endurance by participating in all three events – 19.3 total miles – and earn a special “challenge’’ medal.

Registration for the Springtime Surprise Weekend begins Dec. 9th at rundisney.com. The runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is the last in the 2021-2022 race season following the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Nov. 4-7), the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (Jan. 5-9, 2022), and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (Feb. 24-27, 2022).

Oh, that was 24. I went back to find the themes and grabbed the wrong year. Now it makes a lot more sense.

Springtime themes change yearly. The challenge was themed to Stitch in 2024. 2026 will be the 5th anniversary. A lot of people are hoping for a Star Wars theme. Themes are released roughly two weeks before registration.

What ended up happening to the Ohana Challenge? How did that end up being a Baymax medal? I'm curious because I'm not sure if I want to try for an easter trip next year or just come for Springtime surprise with my son, and he's super into the Jumba's experiments. If they truly had a short distance Stitch themed race I'd think there was a chance. He was very jealous of my photos with the experiments from the half this January. I'm hoping they release the themes a bit earlier this year since the registration is moving up.

The shoes aren't that attractive. Both the Adrenaline & Minnie version of the Ghost Max are nearly sold out. The Brooks site lets you purchase up to 10 pairs.

I got mine at the expo Saturday. They were out of my size but did a 'drop ship' to my house - I should have them this week.

Apparently you need to be a Brooks Run Club member to get access. And sizes are VERY limited in some styles.

The shoes are now available to purchase on the Brooks website: https://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/featured/rundisney/

I wonder what the CM playing Groot thought when you walked up. 😄

Been lax about logging in for awhile. Had a good run with the 5K this morning, thank goodness I was in B and didn’t stop for any pics on the course and avoided the 2 hour line Groot would become 😂. He was going 10 min on and 10 off, I waited 30 min behind maybe 50 people, after I got through, the line was to the support tent! The tall and the short of it… Not even Spuds McKenzie himself was ever as cool as this pup… Also, always happy to see my favorite runDisney/ESPN cast member 😁 Onward to the 10k and 10-miler, good luck to all!

I'm working Friday & Saturday but NOT Sunday. I'll be somewhere (??) in the EPCOT parking lot. I'm sure I'll see @Rteetz at some point LOL
