The inaugural runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort will combine some past runDisney events for a nostalgic four day race weekend in 2022.

The 2022 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will feature:

  • Expedition Everest 5K (April 1, 2022 - $100) – The race will once again feature a nighttime 5K combined with a scavenger hunt, but this time the hunt will be conducted during the 5K. $100

  • Race for the Taste 10K (April 2, 2022 - $135) – The event will mirror the 10K from the past, but now the race will celebrate the newest attraction at Walt Disney World Resort, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT. $135

  • The Tower of Terror 10-Miler (April 3, 2022 - $190) – The race will still be a 10-miler, but will be run in the morning instead of at night. $190

Runners who sign up for the $445 Springtime Surprise Challenge, can test their endurance by participating in all three events – 19.3 total miles – and earn a special “challenge’’ medal.

Registration for the Springtime Surprise Weekend begins Dec. 9th at rundisney.com. The runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is the last in the 2021-2022 race season following the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Nov. 4-7), the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (Jan. 5-9, 2022), and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (Feb. 24-27, 2022).

I'm in for the 10 miler! I usually run the 10k, but decided to challenge myself with the extra 4 miles this time

Wolf43Aug 27, 2024

My cousin is in for the 10-miler, and I’m in for the challenge. 😎

Glad you are in!! Demand seems to be low. At all times, I tried to register to check it out and there was never a queue. Like the good ol’ days.

Got lucky this morning, for the first time I can remember, I got in almost immediately! In for the Challenge and completed registration by like 10:06AM!:D

In for year 4 of the Challenge

The distance thing was something they mentioned from day one since the three race challenge is the same as the two race challenge so they could keep the 19.3. I would love a course that goes through AK for one of these weekends that isn't the marathon.

Still waiting on the “surprise” one of these years. Distances all remain the same, and on the same days. I get we never know the themes (there’s the surprise), but isn’t that how every race weekend goes (themes revealed- surprise). The only true surprise was Everest 5K as a night race. Do a 5K trail run in the morning, 10K that very same night. Throw in a Half some years. Change the course up- give us something new. So many elements available to surprise! Instead it’s ho hum. I’m not a grouch I promise.

I’m a fan of the themes. Not sure if I’m going to register, I think I may go for this or wine and dine.

I didn't notice that before but I am not reading much into it. I would be pretty surprised if they changed their standard set up. Disney loves to keep things status quo.

They have the castle up as the location for this race weekend. SE is up for all other race weekends. Just asking, could just be an error. But DHS is up for Yoga.

Where are you getting an MK start from?
