The 2025 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort will take place from April 3-6, bringing the final races of the 2024-2025 season.

Participants can expect a lineup of heroic themes and the reward of unique finisher medals. Here's a breakdown of the medals revealed for each race and the challenge:

5K: Guardians of the Galaxy Medal

5K runners will earn a medal featuring Groot and his interstellar allies, celebrating their 3.1-mile journey through the cosmos.

10K: Hercules Medal

The 10K race puts runners to the test with a herculean theme. The medal honors Disney's Hercules with designs showcasing beloved characters and the enduring strength of heart and determination.

10-Miler: The Incredibles Medal

Participants tackling the 10-mile race will find themselves alongside Mrs. Incredible, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone. The medal captures the excitement and family strength of The Incredibles—just remember, no capes!

Challenge Medal: Big Hero 6 Medal

Runners completing all three races (a total of 19.3 miles) will earn a challenge medal featuring Baymax and Hiro from Disney Animation's Big Hero 6. It's the ultimate reward for those going the extra mile.

Additional Event Highlights

Official Brooks Gear: The Springtime Surprise Weekend will debut Brooks as the official running shoe of runDisney. Participants will receive Brooks-branded race shirts, and Disney-themed Brooks shoes will be available at the Health & Fitness Expo.

Disney Heroes Yoga: A yoga session at Disney's Hollywood Studios kicks off the event weekend, offering a moment of inspiration and relaxation.

Springtime Surprise Splash: Celebrate the weekend's end at Typhoon Lagoon with exclusive access to attractions, shorter wait times, food, and drinks at night.

Oh, that was 24. I went back to find the themes and grabbed the wrong year. Now it makes a lot more sense.

Springtime themes change yearly. The challenge was themed to Stitch in 2024. 2026 will be the 5th anniversary. A lot of people are hoping for a Star Wars theme. Themes are released roughly two weeks before registration.

What ended up happening to the Ohana Challenge? How did that end up being a Baymax medal? I'm curious because I'm not sure if I want to try for an easter trip next year or just come for Springtime surprise with my son, and he's super into the Jumba's experiments. If they truly had a short distance Stitch themed race I'd think there was a chance. He was very jealous of my photos with the experiments from the half this January. I'm hoping they release the themes a bit earlier this year since the registration is moving up.

The shoes aren't that attractive. Both the Adrenaline & Minnie version of the Ghost Max are nearly sold out. The Brooks site lets you purchase up to 10 pairs.

I got mine at the expo Saturday. They were out of my size but did a 'drop ship' to my house - I should have them this week.

Apparently you need to be a Brooks Run Club member to get access. And sizes are VERY limited in some styles.

The shoes are now available to purchase on the Brooks website: https://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/featured/rundisney/

I wonder what the CM playing Groot thought when you walked up. 😄

Been lax about logging in for awhile. Had a good run with the 5K this morning, thank goodness I was in B and didn’t stop for any pics on the course and avoided the 2 hour line Groot would become 😂. He was going 10 min on and 10 off, I waited 30 min behind maybe 50 people, after I got through, the line was to the support tent! The tall and the short of it… Not even Spuds McKenzie himself was ever as cool as this pup… Also, always happy to see my favorite runDisney/ESPN cast member 😁 Onward to the 10k and 10-miler, good luck to all!
