Disney has today shared a first look inside the new Island Tower Guest rooms, which will open later this year at Disney's Polyesian Resort.

Projected to open on December 17, 2024, the 10-story tower will feature a variety of room types, complete with original artwork inspired by the Polynesian Islands, wayfinding and the natural elements – earth, water, wind and sky.

Each guest room will also feature custom pieces inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios film, "Moana."

Duo Studios

With inspiration from the stars and the sky that the wayfinders used for celestial navigation, the bright and airy duo studios will offer the perfect retreat for two.

Studios for Families of Four

Celebrating the lush flora and fauna of the islands, the deluxe studios will sleep up to four and include a first-of-its-kind feature for Disney Vacation Club deluxe studios – a dishwasher. The deluxe studios in the Island Tower will have a new layout, including a cozy seating area across from the kitchenette.

One- & Two-Bedroom Villas for the Entire Family

You and your family and friends will be able to spread out in a one- or two-bedroom villa, sleeping up to five and nine, respectively. Through unique artwork, each villa will showcase a voyager's journey both on land and under the sea. Embracing the beauty of water or earth, these spaces will feature a kitchen with full-size appliances, a dining area, a washer and dryer, and an outdoor patio area.

NEW Two-Bedroom Penthouse Villas

Disney Vacation Club will introduce a brand-new type of accommodation in Island Tower: two-bedroom penthouse villas. Themed after the calming balance between water and the islands, the villas will sleep up to eight and boast a spacious living room, and spectacular views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom Park from an expansive patio balcony.

Sustainable Design Details at the Island Tower

Several features within guest rooms contribute to the Island Tower's sustainable design, in line with Disney's 2030 environmental goals. For example, in addition to the convenience that comes with the first-ever dishwashers in the tower's studios, they also contribute to Disney's goal of minimizing waste by reducing the need for plastic utensils and single-use dishware. The plush rugs and carpets inside guest rooms are made from mostly recycled plastic bottles woven into fine yarn that feels like silk.

How to Book Your Stay at the Island Tower

  • June 4: Beginning today, Disney Vacation Club members can make rental reservations by contacting Member Services at (800) 800-9800. Members will be able to make points-based reservations at a later date.
  • June 5: Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can start booking rental reservations by contacting (407) 934-7639.
  • June 6: All guests can make reservations online or by contacting (407) 934-7639.

Those palms trees are blocking my view of the Grand Flo 😤

Dang...so ugly... Sad that they just don't care anymore.

The Grand Floridian is such a distraction and a stain on the horizon. All that giant un-adorned white should just be burned to the ground obviously to preserve Walt's original vision of never putting hotels near the Resort Kingdom of the World.

You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to use a telephoto lens to exaggerate its looming presence. Photos that replicate what one would see in real life are just so uneditorial.

Few More - Ferry to WL If I had to guess, this tower is visable in some way or another from these locations at the monorail: Otherwise it's not very visable at the Poly or the Grand Flo unless you're in certain rooms. Bonus shot of a rainbow above Space Mountain:

These were taken 2 weeks ago, just to give everyone an idea of view. From the monorail leaving the Contemporary. From Trader Sams Tiki Terrace On the Monorail to Grand Flo - you can't see the building until this point: From the Monorail going in to Magic Kingdom. You can't see the building until this point coming from Grand Flo Example, here is the view from the Monorail heading to MK (this is from a video, excuse the resolution) 826187826188 Here you finally see the top: 826189 Walking from the buses to MK, it becomes more visable as you get in front of the train station. 826190

Clearly based on Māori and Pacific Island tribal tattoos... When can we expect objections of cultural appropriation to start?

If those tattoos are anything like on people can you imagine what they will look like in 20yrs ---yuck

Don't worry. There will only be ten rooms open. The rest will be 'shuttered' so that the resorts' percent-full figure looks good on quarterly reports!!!

I will say I like the paint treatment on the outside, it reminds me of tattoos. Is this still supposed to open in 2024?

lol. Sorry...sometimes I make the mistake of assuming everyone will appreciate my grossness!

Why did you need to put that image in my head this early in the morning 😭

Maybe they have to get finished before the end of the year for a tax thing or interest on the loan?
