Here is a latest look at the new Disney Vacation Club tower construction site at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

Work is still ongoing preparing the large banyon tree for relocation.

The original walkway between Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is now closed, and replaced with a temporary walkway through the parking lots.

The temporary path goes through parking lots, across a road, alongside the golf course, and back into the Polynesian.

The new DVC tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has a planned opening in 2024.

The Contemporary for its time was modern and up to date was the theme and even today IMO is unique. Can that be said for the Polyday Inn --unique don't think so IMO

The issue is mostly because it's relatively generic as opposed to something highly themed. The Contemporary gets away with it both because it's a unique structure and because it's been there since opening day, but otherwise Disney had generally focused on building themed hotels that were very different than what you might find in any number of random locations. That's obviously no longer their focus between the Riviera and this, but it is disappointing. There's a big difference between seeing this building and seeing the Grand Floridian.

You can see a lot of stuff from the MK entrance why is this a bad thing? It's not literally invisible but it's quite hidden from most areas inside the resorts. Not sure why we care when we can see a building from across the lagoon. We can see all the building everywhere.

Wailulu Bar & Grill has been added to the Walt Disney World website and My Disney Experience app. Here's a direct link to the restaurant page: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/polynesian-resort/wailulu-bar-grill Below is what is currently listed under the Dining Plan option:

Yep. You also can't see if it you bury your head in the sand. :)

Not true... It is visible from many more areas other than the room facing towers. It also forever changes the skyline of Seven Seas Lagoon which again is visible from the entire resort area and Wedding Pavilion, MK entrance etc. It is not hidden and invisible.... Yes you can find areas within the Polynesian Resort where it is not visible... I can't see it from within the Grand Ceremonial Hall or the Kona Cafe....

The only impact are the rooms facing the new tower. Outside those areas you can't even see the tower unless you try.

Honestly, I haven't seen it so I can't really comment on it, but it does mean the Poly goes from about 900 feet between a hotel wing and GF wing and shrink it to like 450 feet (and it's even more dramatic if you include the wedding pavilion). I have no idea if it visually makes them look connected, but the distance apart is cut in half.

It’s all subjective of course, but arguing that it isn’t intrusive is still a weird take.

It doesn't.

It is not visible for most of the monorail. From the Grand Flo to MK you can't see it until you're just coming to the MK station (I video taped this). From the poly you can only see it when you clear the last building. From MK you can see it in the distance until you start turning to poly. So it's visible for maybe 35%ish of the track (maybe 40)

Once the mold sets in it will be plenty dark plus they can dye it after install, Disney still knows how to do that
