After an extended closure, the Prairie Outpost & Supply storefront in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland appears to be preparing for a return with a new retail focus.

According to the official Disney World website, guests will soon be able to “become a fashion pioneer” while shopping for a variety of hats and custom headwear. The product lineup is expected to include wide-brimmed hats, classic fedoras, customized and themed headwear. It isn't clear if this will be a Disney operated location, or an extension of Chapel Hats, which operates a headwear store in Disney Springs.

Located next to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, the storefront has remained closed for some time, and previously offered candy treats.

This is good, imo. It's the exact kind of shop that would've been there in 1971. Thematically relevant, minimal IP, decent quality products. Hoping it does well.

    Worth the price of admission.

Especially semi-aquatic egg-laying mammals of action.

Leather fedoras aren't as popular as straw or pith, though...

Frontierland had a hat shop for decades, so I guess Disney was out of touch back then too?

I look at it similar to the Sunglass Hut in Adventureland. It isn't going to break sales records, but it is nice for guests when they need one. Besides, we need more unique stores, not less.

What kind of store would you reccomend in that location?

people wear hats all the time especially in the hot Florida sun.

Variety is good, even if it’s not optimized to contain things that every guest will want. Relentless replacement of once-unique offerings with mouse ears and spirit jerseys is how we’ve gotten to the sad place we have with merchandise basically everywhere that isn’t World Showcase.

Are there really that many people looking to buy hats while in the park? The people running Disney are so out of touch with actual people.

Did they repaint the signage? Could have sworn it was a more aged yellow? The white really stands out, and not in a good way. It seems like they've done little if anything to draw guests in or inform them of the shop's offerings. Probably could have zhuzhed it up a bit. Oh well.
