The full rebuild of Astro Orbiter at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is now complete. All of the attraction's planets have been reinstalled, the crane has been removed, and the elevated ride system structure has been fully reassembled following months of work in Tomorrowland.
Crews have now moved into the testing phase, running the ride system to prepare it for eventual reopening. While the attraction appears structurally ready, Disney has not yet announced a reopening date. Astro Orbiter remains officially listed as closed on the park calendar through the end of July, which is as far as the calendar currently extends.
What's Next
- Ride Testing Ongoing: Expect to see continued ride system checks over the coming days and weeks.
- Reopening Date Still Unconfirmed: The attraction is still labeled as "closed for refurbishment" with no official end date.
This refurbishment began in January 2025 and included a full teardown of the ride system, removal of all themed elements, and now a complete rebuild. It mirrors the scope of the 2014 refurbishment, which followed a similar pattern.
