EPCOT Canada Pavilion Construction Update - Is a Bar or DVC Addition on the Way?

Canada Pavilion construction - December 27, 2024
Posted: Friday December 27, 2024 11:00am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

A new exterior-facing kiosk window is taking shape at EPCOT's Canada Pavilion, part of a still unknown project.

The construction is focused on the Hotel du Canada area, a part of the pavilion that has been inaccessible to guests for years. A previously filed permit listed the project as "Install Set Elements" and was assigned to Icarus Exhibits. This vendor has extensive experience with Disney, having contributed to TRON Lightcycle Run, Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, and Toy Story Land.

While the permit's description remains intentionally vague, the involvement of Walt Disney Imagineering indicates a guest-facing addition is likely. Combined with the kiosk-style window visible in the construction photos, it seems the pavilion might be expanding its offerings.

Current theories suggest the possibility of a bar or lounge space, while others wonder if it could tie into a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) initiative.

Canadian Bacon?

I think I know what this window thing at Canada is going to be - A walk-up window where you can order a 25oz Molson or LaBatt's Blue with a side order of 150 or more DVC points. You must drink all of the beer within 15 seconds, at which time you will be handed a pen to sign the DVC documents. If you take too long to drink the beer, you will be forced to buy more points as punishment.

The giant tv screen really adds to the “Canada at the turn of the 1900s” story the pavilion is supposed to be telling

The part I didn’t say was - This is all a damnable indictment about the lack of park vision and creativity under Iger. They couldn’t figure out something to put there in nearly 20 years? Unacceptable.

Also just a very random location for such a thing, but I guess it’s been almost 20 years since it was a usable space so if they were going to use it for something useful they had their chance

If that is what this space becomes, it will be an incredible disappointment. And a whiskey-tango-foxtrot moment if I ever saw one.

Ladder has been spotted. That must mean all other projects at WDW will be delayed until the ladder can be transferred to Animal Kingdom so Tropical America work can finally begin.

That actually sounds delicious

Sad that after all these years this is what it ends up as. Hopefully it’ll have some public guest access component to it
