Liberty Square to Fantasyland walkway expansion construction
Posted: Friday March 22, 2019 11:30am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Construction is now underway on widening the walkway that links Liberty Square to Fantasyland behind Cinderella Castle.

The waterway around Cinderella Castle has been drained to facilitate the work.

Click the gallery for more pictures of the work.

Shown in the image above by the orange line, the existing narrow walkway is easy blocked by a stroller or two.

By widening the walkway, it will provide a more convenient shortcut from the central hub area to Fantasyland.

    Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

Three guests walking side by side in one direction so only one could pass the other way with difficulty. Last week that was my experience, as you can't fix stupid.

    Yes!

Is the two or three Millennium Falcon strollers?

I would agree. Looking at old photos, it was previously about 8' wide. It appears to be 14'-15' now.

    As others have guessed... projection

Trip hazard? Guests breaking branches off and beating people up with them? Squirrels?

Thanks! And thank you for the great pics. On top of things as they happen, as usual.

    It’s significantly wider

It's much wider. We used that path frequently and you could fit only 2 people across. I remember this because numerous times someone would be walking in the middle and did not want to move over to their side to let the person coming from the other direction by. I shoulder bumped a lot of people in that walkway. This was ground zero for rude people taking up the whole path. It looks like you can easily fit 4 across it now.

What time of day were the finished project pictures taken that are posted on the @wdwmagic home page article? MK looks dead and makes me want to be there!!

I still say the actual gray part of the pathway does not look any wider than before.
