The new causeway construction for Disney Springs Marketplace is continuing to progress rapidly.

When complete later this year, the new bridge will space the water providing a quick shortcut from the Rainforest Cafe to the area in front of the Lego Store.

Not sure where else this may have been mentioned, but they've been replacing all of the signs for the hotels in the Hotel Plaza. They're Disney Springs-themed now, with a nice brickwork look and what looks to be similar medallions like the ones shown up above. EDIT: disregard, just found a whole thread about it: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/disney-springs-hotel-signage.934466/

Because ageing techniques would be consistent across the front, not weird random patches like that in very specific, limited areas. EDIT: Also, just because you apply ageing techniques DOES NOT mean you make a sign illegible.

We don't. But that doesn't mean the new look isn't much nicer (IMO).

Yes. I went back and found one of @WDWtraveler 's photos from during the construction. My photo is from one of the pillars in the picture.

How do we know that several Imagineers didn't spend days applying ageing techniques on them?

PixieishOct 27, 2017

Yikes...that doesn't look just like weathering...it looks like something substantial scraped the front of it. Are these in spots where people could lean on them?

anchorman314Oct 27, 2017

This photo was taken in October of 2015, so the plaque couldn't have been more than a few months old. You never realize how sub-par something looks until you see a really nice version of it.

Those look great! They look as if they have a nice thick clear-coat on them too. No matter what materials you use, there is bound to be some degradation over the years, but there are finishes now that prolong life expectancy tremendously. (I was in the sign business for MANY years. ;) )

I never noticed wow.

Photo update as of Thursday, October 26, 2017. The original "Disney Springs" medallions / plaques seen on the causeway and other places around Disney Springs were made of aluminum or some alloy that degraded over time in the weather. Weren't pretty. Here are the new "brass-looking" medallions / plaques that have been installed. Much prettier.

Now we're complaining about ladders. That's just grate(s). ;)

halltdApr 09, 2016

Everyone loves the ladder, though. He's famous! The current kiosks do not open with the Springs or stay open the entire evening...according to the calendar. So yeah, these will be visible.

danlb_2000Apr 09, 2016

I have bigger problem with a kiosk that has a ladder and construction material laying in front of it. That's strange themeing. ;)

halltdApr 09, 2016

I saw them. You saw them. WDWtraveler saw them. ;) Do the kiosks remain open during the full operating hours of the Springs? I didn't think they did.
