The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is now home to the fabled 'Museum of the Weird' Candle Man figure.

Designed by legendary Imagineer Rolly Crump, the Candle Man figure was deemed too scary to go into the original Haunted Mansion and was instead planned to go into a never-realized 'Museum of the Weird' exhibit at the Haunted Mansion.

The demon-like ghostly figure is made of dripping wax and can be found in Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion attic scene on the left side of the forward motion.

Look for a table next to the suit of armor, and you will see the Candle Man figure looking toward your Doom Buggy.

Rolly Crump died earlier this year, and the Candle Man has likely been installed in both Walt Disney World's and Disneyland's Haunted Mansion as a tribute to Crump.

This latest addition is part of a series of upgrades at the Haunted Mansion, including an updated Madame Leota figure, the return of the mummy figure in the graveyard, updated load and unload belts, refreshed lighting in the stretch room, and the upcoming arrival of the Hatbox Ghost.

Have you thought of the possibility that the arm is for the candleman? Perhaps he needs a lightsaber.

No, but I guess I have to give up hope of ever getting a Star Wars Nerd card because I genuinely didn't even realize what it was nor did I wonder for more than half a second once the Candle Man was in sight 😅

Do I have to turn in my Disney Nerd card if I confess I’m more interested in the Mandalorian arm in front of the candle man?

My understanding is no, though I almost hoped for that myself. Would have been nice for the shop to be Museum of the Weird themed, but it seems that's not the case.

Could he be for the new exit gift shop in DLR?

SquishyApr 04, 2024

I assume this is only coming to the DL mansion during the refurb or are there plans to add it to WDW too?

JustInTimeApr 04, 2024

That would be really cool.

zipadee999Apr 04, 2024

This is a stretch but with the new exit, I’d love to see a post-show added that resembles a smaller and streamlined version of the original museum of the weird with Candleman and other Rolly Crump creations

The video was taking at DL so this might be something added when DL’s reopens this fall.

Disney basically just does what they want. They feel no need to ease anyone into anything. That said, Stretch Room changes may be possible. Conversations have been had. Doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to happen, but it could.

Unrelated (and SPECULATION) but I feel like any additions to the HM at this point are being done to gradually ease the fandom into what will eventually be the Ghost Host intro/Stretching Room overhaul. It's coming. I can feel it. Though I'm hopeful Constance gets booted or updated before that big to-do.

Magicart87Apr 04, 2024

Hmm. How weird would he look anchoring the opposite side of the Endless Hallway? Cause at this point... why not? Gracey's figure on one side and Crump's on the other. Ghost Host nods to Hot and Cold running chills? Candleman as Heatmiser with Hatty as Snowmiser? It could work. Hypothetical armchair of course.

🤷‍♂️

Projection melting or physical effect?
